Should I get DD Gabby's Dollhouse?

Hi all,

DD (5) loves watching Gabby's Dollhouse on Netflix and goes 'wow' when she sees it the ad for the dollhouse on TV, but didn't put it on her Santa list (did it last night so I can spread the cost). She's not hugely into small world play, is more interested in games/crafts/Lego. She's asked for lots of little things whereas her brother will be getting bigger things (have the same budget). I feel a bit bad that he'll have big boxes and hers will be small but she didn't specifically ask for the dollhouse, so I don't know if it's worth it? Would you buy it if you were me? TIA.

If she hasn't asked then no I wouldn't.

Although you can buy individual room sets from Smyth's (potentially elsewhere too but I happened to see it in the catalogue when going through with my daughter the other day)! They were £16.

You could also get the figurines and over the holidays use some of the big boxes to make a Gabby's Dollhouse! Some fun wallpaper and mini accessories etc

It's a very expensive toy for something you don't seem sure she'll get much play out of even if it gets the initial 'wow factor' response. I think if you're still looking for a main gift for her, I would be more inclined to get an impressive Lego set or art set or something else you know she'll enjoy, and maybe as PP suggested get a smaller set of Gabby's Dollhouse figures and see how much she plays with them. If she loves them, maybe you could buy the dollhouse for birthday? This would be my thought process but ultimately up to you obviously!

We're not buying it as there's very little to actually 'play' with - not good value for money at all!

apparently it’s really flimsy and cheap plastic, why don’t you make it yourself? Have a craft project. She would love that more.

Yeah we've decided not although we're getting the figures and I might try to make the hamster kitties using Pom poms

A friends DD has it (bought by Granny last year) and honestly, it’s really underwhelming. Flimsy plastic, not much about it at all.

DD really wants either that or a Barbie Dream House.

For £80 you could get her a really impressive proper dolls house. Gabby's looks nothing like the one in the show.
I always stick to smaller gifts when it comes to flavour of the month stuff. As PP suggests, room sets and figures are at a more palatable price point for something you're not sure she's that into and might be completely over come boxing day.
I made DS his own Gabby box last year, involving glitter tape and metallic markers, 2 cardboard triangles for cats ears, and a small Sylvanian set inside (Gabby stuff harder to come by last Christmas) and he was so happy!
