Ideas for just turned 14 DS, into Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons

December birthday so lots of ideas needed to steer grandparents etc.

He will specify some Warhammer, no doubt, but likes a surprise. Him and his pals don't use the books to do DnD, they've learnt the rules and make their own stories etc. Any cool ideas?

We're getting a family PS4 for Christmas, if that helps at all.

For Warhammer stuff like a paint station maybe, figure case so he can take his stuff with him, terrain. Is it fantasy or 40k he plays.

With DND I'm not sure how you can really play without rules really, you'd need an amazing memory to remember all the tables. Or do they look stuff up on dnd beyond? Dice could be good, dungeon master screens, dice pouches or tins. It depends on the sort of things he likes.

Have you looked on Etsy at dice, rolling towers and record keeping books?

Warhammer case for the figurines
Citadel base paint or paint colours for a particular set.
Citadel paint handle
Set of fine paint brushes
Paint station

Thanks everyone. He has a lot of Warhammer accessories already, but brushes is always a good shout, thank you @Seagal. DnD is more recent. How they play without books I have no idea.

Last year he wasn't into DnD and I got him some really cool assorted 6 sided dice. For DnD he picked out some dice at a convention, they didn't look very exciting to me, there are amazing dice sets out there but not sure whether to get him more now that he has picked some.

DM Screen and dice pouch both great ideas @imnotalpharius .

I'll ask probing questions on record keeping books @Damnautocorrect . I do see cool looking stuff on Etsy, not sure what he would use, I'll have to do some sleuthing.

One of my daughters friends has a large card index box she has decorated. It’s a wooden one, she’s burnt some designs in it and decoupaged some. She keeps her dice in it as well. Everything’s neatly filed. It’s very organised

I know you said they like surprises but Warhammer and D&D stuff can be very specific and if there are certain bits they want/need it might be better to ask them outright - especially if this is to give ideas to grandparents etc.
I used to work in a toy shop and every year would have some poor Granny looking lost in the board games because she had been told her grandkids were into "something called Dungeons and Dragons".

He will undoubtedly provide a list of Warhammer stuff he wants. The long-suffering staff in our local shop will have a list for him. Depending on price point we'll divvy it out to grandparents and uncles. But it's nice to surprise people with thoughtful surprises.

It wouldn't entirely surprise me if my mum wandered into the store and a long standing staff member said "Aren't you Namechangeforthis88 Junior's Granny? His parents are getting him this set, he really needs some heavy assault for that faction, he'd love this set here."

My DS 11 is into both warhammer and DND.

My brother recently bought him a craft light with a magnifier for painting tiny figures. It was a surprise and DS loves it. He uses it every time he paints.
