Gift ideas for an autistic child

My DS is 5 soon and then Christmas is next.

I haven't got a clue what to get him. He has no interests outside swimming and playing with muck outside Envy

I am taking him to Peppa Pig world for his birthday and staying in a hotel (he likes rides). The hotel has a swimming pool too so he will get a swim out of it

Any ideas what else I could possibly buy him? He doesn't play with toys really. He likes baby toys that light up and play music but he also throws them across the room for sensory related needs and it sets me on edge at 3am!

Anyway, any gift ideas would be great.

The one and only other thing I've bought is an exercise ball for him to jump on

He had this huge piano thing you basically step on to make music but for some reason he isn't interested in that

He likes baby toys making music etc

Our boy will be unwrapping wak a tubes on Christmas Day. They are plastic tubes which make noises when hit against the floor or more likely one of his siblings. He is nearly six with a chromosome difference, large global delay and autism. He still can’t engage with toys but he does love noise and hitting things. I will also put bath toys in his stocking as he loves splashing in the bath.

what about bath toys?

When my grandson was this age he had a wooden tricycle with a trailer. He often preferred pushing it to riding it, but the trailer itself was a big hit. He would fill it with stuff, take it elsewhere, tip it out. Soft toys, books, mummy's laundry, all got a ride!

Hi OP - I have autistic children too, and have sometimes found that quite practical presents have been good. Maybe new swimming shorts, and goggles etc if you're going swimming for his birthday?
Not sure if it applies to your son, but we found too many presents got a bit overestimating so would either get them fewer or spread it over a few days.
We've got a few of the suggestions that PP have sent and they've been brilliant.

Happy Birthday to your little boy!

One of my kids' perennial favourites when they were little:

We bought an underbed storage box and a sack of rice. Added some dried beans, lentils etc. Pour rice and other dried things into storage box.

The kids absolutely loved it - driving diggers round it, lifting and pouring the rice, scooping it, etc. It is a bit messy but it vacs up well too.
