I'm drowning in different options and I'll be honest I don't have a clue what I'm looking for!

Ds has been saving his money and has got £500 to put towards it. I wouldn't ordinarily buy such an expensive present but he's been saving for 2 years and he's been so good so deserves it.

I'm hoping to get one for around £1000. I keep getting told I need to spend more as otherwise it won't be any good. My ds has found one for £750 that he thinks is good but when I looked it up it's not that great.

I'd hate for him to spend all of his savings towards it for it to not be good enough. I'd rather spend a bit more on one.

What games specifically is he going to play?
They all have different graphics card, processor, memory requirements.

£750-£1000 should get you a good gaming laptop but depends what games exactly are going to be played.

Check out this deal but more particularly, the comments on it. Most people seem to think this is a good option. I'm looking for a gaming PC for my son - so I'm very much just getting to grips with the terminology and min specs needed for decent gaming- but this is beyond my budget unfortunately:

Try this company. They are brilliant. If you ring or chat to them they will advise. A laptop for £1000 will be a lower spec than a desktop but don't forget things like, the screen quality and response rate etc

Would he consider a refurbished one from a specialist company? They can add the best Nvidia graphics card, add extra memory SSID and so on, so that the spec is much higher than new. I did this a long time ago and the machine handles things really well, although getting a bit tired now

I was you op, I can 100% recommend www.overclockers.co.uk/

no question is too stupid, they’re so helpful so you get what you need, just tell them what pc will be used for and they’ll build to your requirements if no stock options, or tell you what’s best u can get for your budget. good price and 3 year warranty that I have used with no issue, just save your box and they’ll send dhl to collect, it was my son’s graphic card that bust, then collected and replaced with higher spec. Can’t fault them at all

Second the overclockers idea.
