Christmas Dinner dessert

Hi, does anyone have a suggestion for a light dessert that I can make in advance?
Every year everyone seems to full for a sickly sweet dessert, no one but me likes Christmas cake/pudding. Last year I got the chocolate cones from m&s but ended up in the bin because they were pretty much tasteless and too sweet.
Bonus points if I can stash them in the freezer

Following as I could have written this exact question!

Coffee semifreddo

We're having basque cheesecake this year - light, airy and delicious. I'll buy or make depending on what I can find closer to the time! Waitrose do a lovely one, although I don't know if it can be frozen.

I made a lovely chocolate orange cheesecake last year. I'm making it again this year as it was very popular!

Lemon tart or roulade

Would you mind directing me to the recipe please?

gogohmm · 23/10/2022 20:58

Christmas pudding for me but always make something meringue based too

ThreeB · 23/10/2022 20:58

Tiramisu trifle and clementine jelly here

pavillion1 · 23/10/2022 20:59

Depends on the numbers .. my lot like to hit the red after Xmas dinner , although we do eat about 4pm ... I did buy a baileys Yule log and that didn't go to waste

Startuplife · 23/10/2022 20:59

I’m planning to do Mary Berry’s meringue wreath and then the caramelised apple sponge from the Comfort Mob book which is basically an Eve’s pudding.

Trifle for us with an option on cheesecake or black forest Gateau

(The 70s never left our house)

Another for the Christmas pudding icecream. It's like a Christmas pudding in reverse, so presoaked dried fruits including apricots etc in a home made cinnamon and vanilla icecream. If you have a freezer not hard. Or just a good icecream with stewed fruits.

GettingStuffed · 23/10/2022 21:21

There's a recipe for mulled wine jelly in Good Housekeeping, were considering that, but without the pears. In the past, in the days of freezer too, I've made Delia's Christmas pudding ice cream, it's a cinnamon ice-cream with dried fruit in it

Tillsforthrills · 23/10/2022 21:21

White forest merengue roulade

Fab, thank you xx

BoneAppleTee · 23/10/2022 21:47

Ooh a lemon cheesecake. Light and refreshing, not sweet and you can knock them up in 10 minutes, with about 4 ingredients

MajorCarolDanvers · 23/10/2022 21:49

Chocolate mousse
Lemon drizzle cake
Lemon meringue pie
Sorbet
Chocolate roulade
Fruit pavlova

These are amazing and have done them a couple of years running. Not exactly light but you can make in advance and freeze. They are not as sickly as you might think. Think I'll do them again this year as always go down well

Lalanbaba · 23/10/2022 22:33

Thank you everyone for the ideas
I would definitely make the christmas pudding ice cream for the season but maybe just as second option of dessert
I like the idea of a no bake cheesecake that I can have in the freezer. Orange chocolate sounds lovely. I will try to make it one weekend to test it
@organicapricot those look delicious, but maybe not after a massive meal 😁
