Shamelessly fishing for inspiration! My ideas so far are:
Science kit
Board game of some sort
More kinetic sand
Some lego (up till now we've only had duplo)
Scratch art set
Fancy hot chocolate and marshmallows
A new jigsaw

None of these feel very...inspired. Hence this thread.

An indoor basketball hoop and soft ball is the main thing.

We have a hoop outside as ds1 (14) plays basketball but it's a proper one and 10ft high - ds 5 loves playing with it but it's a good bit too high for him!

FruitPastilleNut · 16/10/2022 19:36

Oh and also a Rainbowcorn. He pays very little attention to most toy adverts but this one has got him by the soul and his little face lights up when he sees it. Sings the song, rewinds the advert to watch again, the lot 😂

NameChange30 · 16/10/2022 19:39

Yoto mini. We have the original and love it so much I'm getting the mini for travel.
(I have a referral code for 10% off Yoto if you want it.)

Does your 5 yo have a bike? Mine got a new bike for his 5th birthday but if not I would've got a bike for Christmas (have done in the past).

You don't really need a "wow" gift though, 5 year olds are happy with a bunch of smaller things.

Remote control cars are a hit with my 5yo and all his friends!

NameChange30 · 16/10/2022 19:39

Oh and a make your own den from hobbycraft, my 5yo has played with it loads.

SuperstarDJsherewego · 16/10/2022 19:41

Role play cash till
Dressing up outfit
Playmobil
Marble run

MotherOfCrocodiles · 16/10/2022 19:42

I'm getting 5 and almost-4 year olds walkie-talkies. Haven't thought of anything else yet.

NameChange30 · 16/10/2022 19:43

Ahhh marble run is a good one. My 5yo would love that but I'm waiting until my 2yo is a bit older, don't trust the youngest with marbles yet.

ohthejoysoftoddler · 16/10/2022 19:49

Can someone link me the den building kits ?

AmyandPhilipfan · 16/10/2022 19:54

So far I've picked up a few things in various online sales:

VTech Kidizoom camera
Bluey camper van
Bluey board game
Play doh pizza oven
Play doh cake oven
Scruff a Luv family
Magnetic tiles

SeptemberSon · 16/10/2022 19:59

Magic set. Minecraft Lego. The floor is lava game. A skateboard. A litter picker (!). Playmobil.

bluesky45 · 16/10/2022 20:41

We're getting our 2 (5 and 3) a Nintendo switch to share. That will be a massive wow for them. They've been asking for one for ages and we've been saying no, it's too expensive. They've been saving pocket money and gifts etc. Think they have about £30 between them saved up so far! So they will be seriously over excited about that ok Christmas morning. That's all they will get off "mum and dad"
We will also probably get them some Lego, I think this is what they will ask Santa for. So 1 small-ish Lego set each, around £20-30.
Then we've got the stockings. They will both get a book or book set. Ds5 will get a yoto card, ds3 with get a Tonie. A game each, I have Uno stashed for ds3 already. A bath bomb each probably.
I'm a bit stuck on the stockings tbh. We use sports socks for stockings so everything has to be quite small to fit in and we're spending more than normal getting the switch so want them to be fairly cheap things too. But I also hate buying for the sake of it and try to only buy what I know they will love and actually use. So following for ideas!

AllThatGlitter · 16/10/2022 21:08

So many good ideas! I like the idea of the den kit... that could prove popular. DS already has a tonie box but wondering whether it might be time to move on to a Yoto player. DS has a bike and remote controlled car already.

For stockings, I've got iced Christmas biscuit, chocolate coins, chocolate reindeer, lego figures, some jellybeans, a book, some new bath crayons, the scratch art set and jigsaw on my list so far, which is probably enough from Santa.

FWIW we have a Tonie box too and I think the Yoto is miles better.

ThreeRingCircus · 16/10/2022 22:03

Lego.

The Hobbycraft ice cream van made of cardboard that she can colour in and play in.

Squishmallow.

A Disney princess dressing up costume.

Schleich animals.

New rucksack for school (unicorn one).

New PJs.

Plus then lots of little bits in her stocking. I'm enjoying it while I can still get away with her being happy with a few smaller things and not wanting very expensive things.

1stTimeMama · 16/10/2022 22:10

I'm stumped for my just turned 6yr old. I have 3 sons, with only a 3 yr age gap between the oldest and youngest, so the 6yr old doesn't tend to have his own interests, he just catches on to whatever the other 2 are in to.
I'm thinking a bike, or I'd love to get him one of the den building sofas, but they're £££. He LOVES a den though, and I'm slightly fed up of my sofa never being a sofa, but a fort of some sort! I really have no other ideas and am starting to worry!

Namechanger965 · 16/10/2022 22:20

Shared present with her 2 year old sister of a wooden shop and theatre (it’s a shop one side and theatre the other) with a shopping trolley and some puppets.

She’s also getting A science kit, Make up set, a rainbocorn and an Elsa dress.

I like the idea of the den building kit and the floor is lava game as they're constantly stealing the sofa cushions at the moment. They had one of those cardboard rockets you colour in from hobbycraft before and used it until it fell apart. So maybe a new one of those.

KitchenSupper · 16/10/2022 22:20

Turbospoke
Workbench
Guitar
Microphone

BlueRaincoat1 · 16/10/2022 22:25

For those asking about den kits we got this for our then 5 year old last year

thedenkitco.com/collections/den-kits/products/forest-den-kit

It is excellent but obviously very outdoorsy, so you would ideally have access to a garden that will facilitate den building or a nearby woods. We did make several dens in the sitting room though and the camo netting is used for army ga.es

MuggleMe · 16/10/2022 22:30

Stomp rockets
Magnatiles or playmags
Orchard games

YungDumbThrills · 16/10/2022 22:31

I've got my 5 y/o DS a switch lite as he keeps dropping mine! He doesn't know about the holiday I've booked for next year so going to do a little reveal for that too. Then just a couple of smaller things to open

inappropriateraspberry · 16/10/2022 22:34

My 4.5 yo list so far:
Spider-Man bike
Spider-Man helmet
Electric toothbrush
Bluey house
Blippi doll

I'm on board with Bluey and a bike, but not keen on encouraging bloody Blippi!

rumbypumby · 16/10/2022 22:44

A wobble board
Got it today on this weeks Aldi special buy

Jas5mum · 17/10/2022 00:29

Just a heads up on the den building kits if its blue balls with orange sticks don't bother. They were really hard to make and the balls just ended up being used as weapons! We got 3 and it all went in the bin in the end!

I'm getting my 5yo
A shopdisney store
Mini brands mystery balls for the store items
Toddler mirabel doll
Flying fairy
LOLs
Purse pet
Bluey nightlight
And a new tablet as hers died!
