I’ve bought bacon subscriptions before for male family members. You can also get a charcuterie one too if they don’t like bacon.

Thanks for this, DF will really like a charcuterie subscription!

I am giving my husband a raclette grill and some raclette to go with it as he loves cheese.

For dad:
Vouchers for a meal out?
Afternoon tea somewhere nice?

If you are worried about vouchers in case anywhere goes bust you could print your own certificate.

For either:
Yes to concert/show tickets (for you to go with them or they take a friend depending). If your budget is not large you could look at local halls/theatres for tribute acts/60s nights etc.

Gawd why is this a thing? We manage to ask kids what they’d like from Santa so they are not disappointed, why can’t we do similar with adults.

Take it from me, I actively dislike getting any gifts. I like to research and choose exactly what I want, need or like. If I have everything I need, then being bought something that someone else thinks I need, without them ever asking makes it all about them. And then I have to fake gratitude so they feel good about themselves and I don’t look like an ungrateful bastard. Then I’m left with something I never wanted because they didn’t listen when I said I really don’t want anything thanks, please put the money to charity instead.

Helicopter lesson or fast car experience or something?

OP budget would be helpful so we can give ideas within your budget

Yes Men are incredibly hard to buy for - I gave DF, DB, DH a DS14 and the only "easy " one is DS Ashe would like cash !

I agree with a lot of the ideas mentioned above but if your budget is £20-£30 each then certain ones would not be achievable

For my DB my DF and I club together and buy him one thing that he would really like (DB is very comfortably off and if he wants something he buys it god himself). Last year Dad and I bought him oysters inc the shucking knife, Chablis & port and a selection of chocolates that he likes - he loved all of it

Favouritefruits · 17/10/2022 17:38

My Dad loved his sheepskin insoles I bought last year from Celtic and Co such a weird gift, I bought them as just a little extra but he clearly loved them more than any other gift.

And gift experiences are the worst, basically telling someone what to do with their time. Unless they’ve specifically mentioned that they’d love to give something a try, don’t bother. They are incredibly difficult to use as well, which is why 50% of them never get used. Buy food or booze if you must get something.

Do a shop for the food bank, make a list of everything you’ve bought and put it in a card, saying you’ve given it on their behalf.

I did that one year, only it was for me, when I didn’t really want or need anything - told dh that was his present to me.

Might well do it again this year.

I always try to find things that are disposable to reduce the amount of ‘stuff’. I have found some pretty smart car care gifts on a company called Laysons. Pleased with the one I have ordered for my DH so unless I come up with other ideas all the adult males in my life will be getting one!
