Hi,

Can anyone suggest or recommend any games for toddlers please?

My 2 year old loves playing Peppa Pig colour matching balloon game and magnetic fishing game.

Thanks :-)

We liked Orchard Games - Shopping List was a favourite.

Dobble Kids was also good.

SatinHeart · 10/10/2022 10:58

Agree - we've got several Orchard Games ones. There's a cupcake one which is quite good.

Pop to the Shops - think that is tha same as shopping list?

All teh Orchard Games ones are good, there was a washing machine one that was well-liked.

Who Knows Whose Nose? also used to be popular here.

My 2 year likes Shopping List and The Post Box Game. I've bought him Rhino Hero Junior for Christmas but I don't know if he'll enjoy it yet.

Hungry Hippos
Pop up pirate
Gruffalo dominoes

Orchard games pigs in pants! It's an investment.

We bought it for my two year old nephew on his birthday, and even grandma was in stitches playing it and my 13 year old asked for it for her birthdaySmile

My nephew plays it every day much to my SIL annoyance

DD really liked several of the orchard games - there were a few matching games, a lotto type game, some jigsaw type games, all very good.

2 year old DS has several orchard games but he loves pop up pirate, buckaroo and connect 4 the most. Sometimes the old ones really are the best.

Wow thank you all so much for the suggestions!

Have made a list and going to Google each one and make a shortlist.

Haba games for 2 year olds. Well thought out, really simple, just for getting used to the skills and process really

Another vote for any of the orchard games, they are great for toddlers!

My little boy loves Sleepy Sloths, Smelly Wellies and The Post Box Game.

Also if they like The Gruffalo book then there is the Deep Dark Wood Gruffalo game. It’s for age 3 and up.

Lemonademoney · 26/11/2022 21:24

We love Shopping List, in fact we played again tonight! It’s great because it’s quick to set up and play and the kids get the hang of it straight away. It’s also quite funny to see their different approaches to the game as my eldest is very competitive whereas my middle child just wants to help everyone else 😂. Pop up Pirate is another good one at this age.

We have a game called candy land which is a much more traditional style board game but it uses colours rather than numbers or movement. That means my kids have been able to properly play from about the age of 2. We picked it up from a table top sale - best 50p I've ever spent!

merryhouse · 26/11/2022 22:08

S1 loved snakes & ladders at that age

Pop-up Pirate became a favourite with everyone after S2's speech therapy sessions

There was an orchard game which was a surprising hit I'm struggling to remember the name, horrid combinations of meals...

(H suggests "ooohhh.. fuck knows" Grin)

finally found it at the bottom of the page, "Tummy Ache"

A bingo game with pictures might fit the bill.

Though having said that, toddlers generally don't mix well with board games. They don't see the importance of the rules or even taking turns, and they don't like losing.

Depends on the child. My 3 yo tries to help me find the things on my shopping list instead of focusing on his own. He doesn't give a shit about losing and is good at waiting for his turn.
I've been waiting 3 years to have a parenting stealth boast. I finally have one.

bluechameleon · 26/11/2022 22:55

I echo previous suggestions of Shopping List, Tummy Ache and Pigs in Pants. Greedy Gorilla is another popular one here - it makes a burping noise which toddlers find hilarious.

mathanxiety · 26/11/2022 23:45

'Snail's Pace Race' is a nice way to occupy a toddler for five minutes.
Melissa and Doug bowling set is fun.
'Hoot Owl Hoot!' Nice cooperative game for the very young.
Richard Scarry's 'Busytown' board game.
