I buy a picture advent calendar every year. I wondered if anyone had seen any particularly nice ones? I've had Angela Harding the last few years which are lovely but fancy a change. Thanks.

Amazon have an advent calendar section and I've bought a couple from there this year.... but take note of the sizes! One was tiny!! But they are really beautiful and sparkly and are the only ones my kids have ever asked for again.... somehow the sparkle and nostalgia they really loved rather than early morning cheap chocolate!

I saw some lovely looking ones in TK Maxx earlier today. Didn't look close as was in a hurry but definitely traditional style that I remember from childhood

Bluegingerbread · 03/10/2022 20:04

We were given a lovely one last year that was Woodland Trust.

Depending where you are Between the Lines in Horsham usually have some beautiful ones. Also, cathedral gift shops.

hububalub · 04/10/2022 14:44

I saw some in our local 'The Works' store today.

Thanks, all- I've found the perfect thing on Etsy.

I didn't buy from www.etsy.com/uk/shop/yellowpapers?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=625867060 but thought I'd link to them in case anyone else is looking as they do some really clever ones eg set in a library with a picture from a different book behind every door or an art gallery with a different famous picture etc. Great for a book or art lover!

Oh what one did you get?

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 05/10/2022 11:12

@Kwackerly

They are beautiful but I can't justify paying almost 3x the shipping costs for a £5 calendar!

Fortunately however DH is going to Berlin next week for 5 days so as they are made in Germany will get him to hunt one down!

Thanks for the link.

I was lucky enough to be in Salzburg this summer and visited the Christmas Museum there where I bought one that is basically a picture of Salzburg.

DH couldn't believe that I spotted a Christmas museum on our first day!

I think I've bought them from Amazon and JL previously.

Monsoon have a lovely reusable Nativity set / advent calendar this year.

I like the ones where the doors and what’s behind them are part of the picture (so you open a postbox and see the parcels or open a window and see a Christmas tree). I got one from After Noah in Islington last year but I can’t remember the company that made it so I might just have to go there again and hope they have similar!
