Big or small Yoto?

I've been seriously considering getting my two DC a Yoto each. They don't know they exist but I'm confident that they'll love them. That being said, can anyone recommend the larder or smaller one? I'm not sure what the difference is (or if it's just size) and is there any difference with the headphones? Are the headphones the same socket as iPads/tablets etc? Also, do you think one is okay to share or one each? Thanks Smile

We have the larger one. It's gone down very very well with our older DC who loves reading but not so much for the younger who I was trying to encourage a love for books (typical). Yes you could use other headphones.
We got one each as they have their own rooms and are typically used at bedtime.

We have the larger one, it has radio and a nightlight etc which I don’t believe the small one does. DS loves his, has it every bedtime and all long car journeys.

I'm not sure what the difference is with the smaller one apart from I don't think it has the night light or screen.

I bought the smaller one for DD4 and some headphones (must be wired for Yoto) so she can take it with her on car journeys or out and about. She can sometimes get overwhelmed with her surroundings so I thought the smaller one would suit us better.

We have both, smaller and larger. My eldest (6) loves hers and has the large one in her room, taking the smaller with her on trips/to restaurants etc. My youngest (3) is probably still on the young side and then my in-laws bought her that character one (Tonies! Just googled) which she prefers, but it’s not very portable. Standard headphone jack on both but be warned on one thing - the Yoto earphones are poor quality, don’t bother. And the small yotos are very buggy on the earphone connections, my eldest’s radio requires a sort of in/out/shake it all about to get sound in both ears on her ear phones. Also with ear phones it seems that yoto limit the sound and so if you get sound limiting ear phones this seems to have had a double whammy effect and your children will just complain they can’t hear anything! 😂
I think the larger one, whilst big, is still portable and doesn’t seem to suffer the same glitches as our smaller ones do, plus the big display is more attractive to younger eyes as this helps them identify the songs/stories they like. Despite my youngest not loving hers as much yet, I’m confident she’ll grow into it (for instance now she knows Peppa pig), and think they’re a great investment. Better on our consciences than an iPad or similar, and honestly my eldest is listening to stories with avid interest that are way above what I would’ve read to her, so they give your children the chance to develop interests and you might even get emotional one afternoon when they start regurgitating they opening chapter of their favourite book! 🥲 Good luck!

oh PS get the jackets for protection! They weren’t about when we had the bigger one and it’s looking a little worse for wear as a result, a few errant pixels!

@BammBamm ha, snap! My three year old currently likes the Christmas songs one. 🫠 And whilst I was hoping we wouldn’t just use it for flipping PP, I’m hoping it’s merely an in, and she’ll be onto other things in the end! 🤞

We have two minis. Kids are 7 and 4. They get used a lot. Made a massive difference to the youngest's sleep as well. We live in a big creaky house and the only rooms on the top floor are her bedroom and ours, so basically at bedtime she'd be up there by herself. She's much happier falling asleep with a story. Just need them to branch out a bit, think dc1 knows the Wishing Chair off by heart.

We have a large Yoto and it’s super! I’m considering getting a small one for the car as I seem to be using so much data on my phone using the Yoto app when we are in the car! It’s such a super thing!
I have a 10% off Yoto discount code for buying one if you have not yet got one, helps with the cost!

We love our Yotos! We bought the original for our (now) 5 year old for her 4th birthday and she has used it every single day since.

And I’ve just caved and bought a mini so my youngest can have one too (we passed the original to the youngest and our older child has the mini). We’re pretty thoroughly converted to the whole Yoto concept! 😂

I wondered what the sound quality would be like on the mini vs the original but I’m pleased to report that the sound is great on both.

A Yoto in each bedroom has transformed bedtime. You can set them up so that the volume turns off at a specified time so we stick a card in every time at bedtime (and the original has a nightlight too).

Happy to share my referral discount of 10% off your first purchase of £59.99 or more 😊

How old are your children? For 3 and under I'd recommend the original and for 4+ I'd recommend the mini.
