DD is at school nursery and has a lot of TAs, I bought them all a bottle of Prosecco for end of term but that will be expensive a few times a year.

Ive seen these which I thought were lovely to go with 2 tubs of celebrations to share.

any early years teaching staff around to give me the thumbs up or down? Not necessarily this story but something similar.

Any teachers? Would you appreciate this?

I’m a reception teacher and I’d love them. We can just about afford glue etc but there’s no money for nice extras like story sacks so these would be great!

Wait4nothing · 24/09/2022 06:58

I’m reception teacher and would actually like these! But would prefer an open ended toy that could be used for anything as it would be used more in the classroom. Our unit is in need of a refresh though. I would ask your specific teachers if there are any small resources they are lacking.

I would also be very thankful for stationary - felt tip pens! We get an ok glue order but they assume 1 class pack of felts can last reception a year. I always look out for deals on branded felt tips to top up.

Anything food wise for us to share in the staffroom/during staff meeting is great.

I prefer this idea to lots of individual presents.

I agree with the posts about stationery, glue sticks and whiteboard pens are like gold dust at my school! We always end up buying our own.

Rainbowcat99 · 24/09/2022 07:19

I would absolutely love these, they would be useful to me, cute and a bit different.

Hopeful16 · 24/09/2022 07:58

I'm not sure how much you were wanting to spend but these would be lovely additions to any reading area. Or perhaps a voucher towards if they're too much.
Is there a parent group that could club together for some story puppet sets? These are lovely and often luxuries that teachers aren't allowed to put on their orders as essentials need to be bought first.
Also agree that a card to the teacher is always appreciated - particularly if it's personalised by something that the child has particularly enjoyed.

If it were me, I would ask what they need, it would be a shame to give them something they don't need when they probably have a long list. I usually give a costa voucher so they can enjoy a coffee and cake in peace, and a box of M&S biscuits (the fancy ones) for the staff room. You can also buy national book token gift cards but I expect the school have their own ways of purchasing books cheaper than using those.

I’m an EYFS teacher. Top of my wish list would be

  • Pritt Sticks (the branded ones!)
  • Post it notes (ditto, unless you know the off brand ones are good)
  • chalk pens for writing on tuff trays
  • laminating pouches
  • nice tissues (not technically stationery, but the ones we get are so cheap and horrid, and from now until about March we get through them quickly).
  • eco friendly glitter - we can’t afford this, but won’t buy the plastic stuff anymore, so have ever dwindling supplies as we use up what we already had.
On the Pritt Stick front, when I was working further up the school, I once got all the TAs in my phase a jumbo Pritt stick (90g!). Obviously not as a Christmas present - they were just doing lots of display work at the time. They genuinely boasted about them to the other TAs 😂.

Glue glue laminating pouches glue glue glue pritt stick glue glue glue and blue tack.

Subtle hint

Maymaymay · 24/09/2022 08:13

I'm an eyfs teacher - gifts for the class are a kind thing to do and I love them for the children. If you want to treat the teachers just get the tub of celebrations. I don't ever expect gifts though- I'm sure they don't especially termly ones you are very generous !

NCTDN · 24/09/2022 08:14

I think it's a really lovely idea, but personally wouldn't go for that exact set. As pp said, I'd prefer ones that could be used for more open ended activities. But they're definitely an extra that wouldn't normally be bought with a school budget (in my school the budget can't even afford to pay all the staff without going into next years budgetBlush).

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/09/2022 08:14

I'm imagining all these teachers sniffing glue in the toilets after a hard day.

I love this thread, and how lovely parents are.

School funding is horrific. And the government has just said the teacher pay rise has to come out of schools individual budgets too which is impossible as they were already stretched so thin.

So yes glue sticks. Whiteboard pens. Felt tips. Stationery like is always, always welcome. I spend £ on it every year and I am secondary so primary colleagues, especially EFYS must be too.

SallyWD · 24/09/2022 09:21

That looks lovely OP. I might get it for my little niece. But yes, maybe something more practical for the staff.
