Too early to wrap?

I have some things for friends and I was wondering, is it too early to start wrapping things up??? I feel like it is, but then the organised side of me just wants to get it ready so I can keep on top of it this year (I have a 2 year old to work around!)

Yes. It'll get damaged and banged and dusty in the mean time and you'll have to wrap it again.

WannabeMathematician · 23/09/2022 15:03

Well done for getting this gifts this early though!

Solosunrise · 23/09/2022 15:08

I say get it done if you have space to keep the parcels boxed/bagged up and out of the way! Then you can enjoy the run up to Christmas with your toddler when the time comes. Just don't forget to label everything (no need to ask why i say this 😳)

I haven't picked up wrapping paper yet, but I'm almost done with Christmas shopping and will be wrapping as soon as it's all here. We have a large wardrobe space with shelving inside that can be used for prsents without being disturbed.

If you’ve got storage space to keep it tucked away, definitely wrap now. I’d pop a post it note on each parcel though to remind you what’s inside 😂

I think it is fine to start any time - wrap and then store in a box with a lid.

Cluckycluck · 23/09/2022 18:21

Yes, get it wrapped but make of note of what you've bought for who.
I wrap as I buy and it makes life so much easier. The only issue is I can forget what I've bought so making a note of everything is essential.

I probably wouldn’t - but I do love wrapping, it’s one of my ‘Christmas activities’, sitting one evening with a wine, chocolates, a film and just wrapping away 😄 one year I did wrap a few things early - and forgot about them completely! So as above, label carefully and make a note of where you’ve put it.

I've started wrapping, I found my stash of sheets and sheets of naice paper from last year so I've wrapped a few gifts up and stored them under the spare bed for now. As long as the paper won't get damaged or dusty, go for it

I say wrap and stick a post it or even a gift label on!

I used to love an evening wrapping away with a glass of wine, but since having DD it all gets so busy in the last few days that I find I don’t enjoy it and it’s a huge rush at the last minute. The nights I’ve been up at 2, 3am wrapping on Christmas Eve, because DD is too excited to sleep… 😩

With a 2 y o you’ll be really grateful to pull out some pre-wrapped stuff, dusty or not, and not have to do it last minute!

TheOGSloth · 23/09/2022 19:36

I've done my DDs, all wrapped and put in her sack so won't get ripped, moved around etc as it's on a top shelf in the cupboard in the spare room. I haven't wrapped anyone else's though as I'm getting a few bits each month and putting in different bags i.e. in laws, friends kids etc. So will do that nearer the time with a rum and coke and Gavin & Stacey Christmas specials!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 24/09/2022 08:27

Another one who loves wrapping and leave it til December, i don't allow myself to wrap (one of my fave Christmas jobs) until I've done some of the jobs I hate.

If you do want to wrap ahead, the presents need to be stored so they won't crumple (suitcase in the loft maybe?)
Post it with recipient and parcel content is a good suggestion from PPs. If you like to add curling ribbon , bows or other embellishments I'd leave that til as late as possible because they will crumple.

Ha ha - I feel you pain! For our house now Santa does colour coding wrapping paper for the kids! Each kid has their own 2 colours so Santa’s helpers (looking at you, DH!) don’t get the kids presents mixed up when helping Santa get them into the stockings!

CollieWobble22 · 24/09/2022 08:32

I once wrapped this early and totally forgot what was inside. It was awkward. 😆 I don't recommend it!

Raindancer411 · 24/09/2022 14:44

Thanks all, I may do the friends and family now as I can sort into their family bags...
