How much are you planning to spend on Christmas gifts this year?
Can you afford it?
Who are you buying for?

So far I have a few little gifts for my little one, pjs, a little toy and a book for his Christmas eve box and 5 things for his stocking.

I've bought 1 gift and part of another for my boyfriend and a little thing for his stocking.

I have a little present for my boyfriends mum and my friend but other than that I still need everything else for them and everyone else :/

@DayOfTheTentacle fizzy shit made me laugh 😂😂

We rarely treat ourselves and always say "ooh shall we have a bottle of prosecco, or go mad and have champagne?"....and then spend £4.99 on a bottle of asti and enjoy it just as much 🙈😂

Dint have an actual budget but going to be a bit more careful on what we are spending.

We are going to New York in January so some things the DC want to do are forming parts of presents, also cash will be given for shopping.

To be honest, when the bargain threads get going, I can’t seem to stop myself!

I have got a few bits already for my granny, cousin and her kids. I’ve also picked up a couple of bits for the local cash for kids gift drive to donate as well. And the food bank.

I don’t have a budget (obviously I can’t spend indefinitely but I mean I don’t set a limit), will probably spend what we do in previous years.
and I’m not sure how much that is.
I’d estimate quite a lot, we have 3dc and buy for a lot of people, around 40, and then host Christmas Day for 20ish people. My mum brings wine and someone else brings the crackers but other than that we do it all ourselves.

I haven't figured out how much yet, it will be less than other years but - as always - it will be what I can afford and from savings, not going into debt.

I have a large extended family and we are travelling to them this year (after a few quiet ones at home), but not renting house like we usually do. And we will also be spending less on treats for our own house.

I anticipate spending less than £300
that's:
£150 on each child (all in)
£50 on DH
£20 on each set of parents
£10 each on two nieces & 3 Godchildren
£10 each on two siblings

What's the point in this thread ???
If you really need to know im spending a billion each on my 2 children . Then because I'm skint just a million on my husband and relatives . It's all I can afford this year 🙄

more to the point - Whats the point in opening a thread you dont like and replying rudely ???

If you really need to know many off us like conversing about this kid of thing, hense starting threats with like minded people that no one is forced to join in on.

Children are getting air pods - I've saved Amazon vouchers from survey sites so no cost there. Plus other bits and bobs - also free (apart from time) in laws will probably request something ridiculous as usual - one year it was a home sun bed and we don't buy for each other

TreacsPotNoodle · 21/09/2022 10:55

Ds (just under 3) £100
DP £150
DM £50/80
DB £30
DB partner £20
Half sisters £10/15

I don't have many immediate family to buy for, no grandparents and no dad. I've massively reduced my budget this year and told people before hand as I just cannot justify spending £1000 on Christmas gifts with the cost of living this winter!

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 21/09/2022 12:14

£20 each for mum, sibling, sibling-in-law = £60
£150 for my husband
£10 each on 2 x friends kids
£10 secret santa
£400 food / drinks over Christmas period - ish.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 21/09/2022 12:40

Oh! I forgot the dog - £10. Maybe more on some treats for her. It was meant to be her 'last Christmas' 2 years ago, so she is spoiled in every which way for being a little furry miracle.

ChildsFan · 21/09/2022 12:54

DH £10
Nephew around £60
Mum £50
Friends kids x 4 £10 each
Close girlfriends x 4 £10 each
Sister & Brother in law £30

Nothing for your kids?

Like nothing?

How old are they?

DC1 just got 1k for new baby.
DC2 got an iPhone 13 for birthday and Christmas a few months back

I assume your children are adults but it seems strange not to give them anything but to buy for other people like friends.

I havent bought xmas gifts for friends since I was in school.

Decided with 2 friends years ago that it sucks being a single mother so we started doing stocking for each other. I love doing it.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/09/2022 20:58

Satin** won't your 13yo be a bit sad not having anything to open on Christmas Day? My daughter had her Christmas present early (a new laptop for college) but I'll still get her some other gifts to open.

It was an iPhone 13. The DC is 20. Might get them a few chocolates I guess !
