Can anyone recommend a board game suitable for adults as well as a 6 and 4 year old? Thanks!

Obviously card games etc too, not just board games

My 5 year old loves a Harry Potter game, it's the one where it's a bit like monopoly

NeedSleepNow · 18/09/2022 21:11

We like ticket to ride London.

Beamur · 18/09/2022 21:12

This game is nice and fun.

Ravensburger games generally are good too.

Junior Scotland Yard and labyrinth are great hits with mine, similar ages

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/09/2022 21:13

Tummy Ache from Orchard Toys always goes down well

Arucanafeather · 18/09/2022 21:18

Kersplat is a great game for those ages. Good intro to board games. It’s frustration with playdoh with the added advantage that there is still always a chance to win even if behind.

Beamur · 18/09/2022 22:05

Labyrinth is fab. We have been playing it for 20 years! (Not continuously) 😄

NotDonna · 18/09/2022 22:13

The card game UNO
Also DOBBLE - circular cards in a little round tin
these are both great for holidays, trips & days out as small & portable.

Castle Panic

SparklyAntlers · 18/09/2022 22:23

The sock game is brilliant fun, great for adults and kids and very quick to learn. Two teams, a sock full of random small objects - both players have to race to find a specific piece in the sock without looking.

avamiah · 18/09/2022 22:25

I love Cluedo and monopoly but the 4 year old might get slightly bored

mnahmnah · 18/09/2022 22:32

Bugs in the kitchen!

I second Dobble and Uno too. And the sock game.

Frustration

UniversalTruth · 18/09/2022 22:34

4yo is a bit young for games that adults will actually enjoy though. But acceptable games we like...

  • labyrinth junior
  • dobble
  • uno junior
  • sleeping queens
Craftybodger · 18/09/2022 22:42

Dobble and Dweebies, both card games.

Mexican Train Dominoes and Qwirkle.

Awrite · 18/09/2022 22:46

For your children's ages, Sleeping Queens is a must. I have so many memories of my parents playing it with my two.

Exploding Kittens is also fun.

Blokus
Ticket to Ride
Carcassonne

LokiCokey · 18/09/2022 22:47

Sorry or Frustration

Awrite · 18/09/2022 22:48

And Tummy Ache is fab.

ideasmirrour · 19/09/2022 09:49

This is fab for 4+ and also fun for adults:

We love blockus and uno in this house, DS is 6.5. Think he might have struggled with these a bit at 4. One game that we still play now that he also enjoyed at 4 is What A Performance (Orchard Toys).

debbiewest0 · 19/09/2022 10:22

We play uno with all ages but what I found is our uno disney version is easier for the younger ones. We didn’t go for uno junior but chose this uno disney instead . They match on number or colour as normal but having the pictures of dumbo or bambi in the middle helped. Now they’re older we still play this version most.
also Enjoy dobble, blokus, frustration and monopoly empire as it’s much simpler

erinaceus · 19/09/2022 10:23

Apples to Apples

Annoyed200722 · 19/09/2022 11:46

Quirkle is probably the best game for all ages. Smaller kids can play at a very simple level alongside adults playing quite competitively for scores.

Junior Monopoly is also not too bad for adults.

it does depend on the 4 year old though. One of mine was very engaged with games at that age and the other had little focus.

Anywhereelse · 19/09/2022 13:28

Games like Thinkfun and Smart Games are often a bit different and transcend age groups.

Also Bugs in the Kitchen, Blokus, Labyrinth, Dobble

Devo1818 · 19/09/2022 15:37

So many lovely ideas, thanks everyone
