Sd 10 so stuck for ideas. Was 10 August. And all she wanted was some river island clothes and cash.!
So for xmas me and dh can't think of anything other than clothes! Things like oodie etc.

I have picked up a HP scratch art and hair paints

Shes only here 2 weekend a month and half holidays.
Doesn't have own room. Is with dd.

She already has tonnes of lego, crafts, barbies, HP dolls laptop, switch
She only plays the laptop.

She does like crafts but by time dh and my family all buy gifts which tend to be crafts i dont think she needs much else.

So stuck!

Cant have any bath type products. Ie bath bombs

Tickets to something? Tickets to the Strictly live show went down well with dd1 who was 10 last christmas. This year we have got tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Or would she like things for her room (can be her main room if she doesn't have a room at yours)? Dd1 has enjoyed a moon shaped mood light, a framed picture of a red panda wearing glasses and similar bits and pieces.

Is there a you tuber she would like some merch from? My dds like Moriah Elizabeth at the moment.

Needmorelego · 08/09/2022 21:20

Clothes and Cash then. Maybe a shopping trip to a city or shop she doesn't normally get to go too.

NoMoreChubRub · 08/09/2022 22:07

Unfortunately her DM doesnt allow anything from here to go home it gets binned,. Long story so that's not an option unfortunately.
She has her own shelfs but already has like jewellery box, clock etc.

Tickets is a good idea.

Its hard as she'll want actual presents to open as the others will. Its awkward age as likes the money, vouchers etc but i think would be disappointed if not stuff to actually open iyswim
Shes with us this xmas too

Fitbit?
headphones
concert tickets

NCFT0922 · 08/09/2022 22:09

Instax camera
Roller Blades
electric scooter

NoMoreChubRub · 08/09/2022 22:19

Has fit bit,. Roller blades, headphones.

Isn't there rules of where they can use electric scooter? If not that's an idea

Instax camera a good idea. I may have to do Hinting and see if she says its some she'd like.

Dh said a new bike. But she isnt massively keen to ride. Shes only just learned and doesnt enjoy it. Asks to take it out when goes to park etc but then doesnt ride it. ( we drive to park as none local with good riding areas)

My dd is the same age. She absolutely adores crystals and has really got into the properties of each one. We got her a book on them and a mystery box and selenite bowl (to charge them in!) off etsy. She likes the crystal necklaces and bracelets too.

We got a big box of fuse beads (like hama beads) that went down very well.

Jewellery making kit, I bought all different beads and string from shein and put into a lunchbag with her favourite animal on. We also got some crystal beads and letter ones.

Games - we love board games to play as a family.

Squishmallow - we got her a big one and she loves it on her bed and for leaning against when playing her DS or watching TV.

Harumika sets - you make up fashion outfits but no sewing required. I bought a cheap one off Bargain max for about £6 and it was one of her favourite Christmas presents last year! So got her a few more sets for this year, still cheap on bargain max!

(Also all these things are popular with my eldest dd who is nearly 14)

NightOwl101 · 08/09/2022 22:45

I'm looking at getting my DD a sprockt (photo printer but pocket size through Bluetooth)

Pandora earrings/charms

She likes body spray sets

Make up?

DinosaurOfFire · 08/09/2022 23:19

Is the switch at your house? Ditto the laptop? If so, what about- digital games for Steam/ fortnite "money" if she plays/ minecoins etc, you can print out nice labels for them.
Pandora bracelet and charms
Coding books for the laptop
Computer accessories- rgb mouse and mouse mat (better for her posture and hands than a laptop trackpad anyway), a laptop desk/ stand, desk pad mat if she already has a desk, funky headset (the razer kraken kitty ones are super popular for gaming, there are cheaper headsets available too)
Nice stationery- Paperchase/ Smiggle/ Waterstones do really nice notebooks and so on.

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2022 23:22

Another thought - my 11yo niece was taken by a water speaker she got for her birthday

NoMoreChubRub · 09/09/2022 00:55

Thanks for ideas.
Yes all listed stuff is at ours
She only uses laptop for you tube. Watches random stuff
Only game she likes on switch is mario cart and hello neighbour.

Water speaker is a good idea.

Had crystal kits last yr and still boxed no interest
We always have jewellery making kits in one style or another with 2 girls.
Again only plays when dd nags to join in.

We have a whole cupboard of good stationery so none needed
She still has 2 nice writing books from 2 years ago unused.

She previously had one of them secret diary's where you shine uv pen she used. Its full now so ill get one of them.

Any chance she is into digital crafts? Then think about something along the lines of professional slideshow software or a good video editor or maybe a 3d design software for interior.
If she enjoys learning new things, then look into classes she may be interested in taking or look for online courses, etc.

mam0918 · 10/09/2022 09:15

At that age all my DS and his friends all wanted a phone (the more fancy the better, lots of bandying of 'brand' like Iphone etc...) also fitbits and smartwatches... the kids that didnt have these things seemed to be notablely left behind socially, that was 3-4 years ago though so the types of gadget may have changed.

The other thread on here says Air up bottles are popular but I have only heard that on here.

mam0918 · 10/09/2022 09:16

Also if she is a gamer kids go crazy for Robux gift cards.

QuestionmarkSpeech · 10/09/2022 09:16

I second Fitbit!

Electric scooters (other than council hireble ones) are illegal unless used only on private property.

They say its an insurance issue but thats bollox, they are no more dangerous than cyclists, skateboards, mopeds and many people ARE willing to take insurance out (if it was publicly availible) but the police just confiscate them on sight.

TeenDivided · 10/09/2022 09:20

Experiences. So not just 'tickets' but something like zoo keeper experience, or birds of prey, or young drivers.
There's another thread running on this board with some good suggestions.

AliceMcK · 10/09/2022 18:25

if she’s into clothes I’d just buy her clothes just make sure you keep receipts so she can exchange if she wants to.

id probably go, clothes, some accessories, maybe a bit of cash in a new purse and handbag. That way she’s opening gifts but getting things she actually wants and likes.

LaTangerina · 10/09/2022 18:35

Hairdressing head if she likes doing hair? You could buy a proper one as opposed to a toy.
Posca pens?
They are super popular with this age (made more so by YouTube)

If the present is tickets, you just buy a box of chocolates and wrap the tickets (or a print of confirmation email if they are not paper tickets) up with the chocs. Or buy a book related to the event tickets are for.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/09/2022 23:36

Does she like baking? I made a baking kit for a niece who had baked with me but never at home at a similar age and she was baking independently very quickly.

NoDairyNoProblem · 11/09/2022 12:31

You can make your own scratch card (kit form Amazon) to present tickets etc or foil tickets from Etsy.

Money balloons (about three local ladies make them near us).

DD is similar and loves converse, Nike trainers, clothes from Zara, RI, Mango, Nike etc. Oodies! Handbags, accessories and make up.

Books, endless stationary, headphones, iPad.

storming92 · 12/09/2022 22:41

You can get her more crafting stuff! Get her books about knitting and weaving. Or have a look at those toy quick knit weaving sets (there's one available on the Gili Toys website if you're interested).
Or get her some old fashioned bracelet making kits.
You can even get her fabric paints to get her creative mind interested. As someone who loves arts and crafts, I'm always willing to buy any new gadget that gets me crafting :)

I hope my suggestions help you out.
