Micro Sprite or Cruiser for Yr 1 child

DD has outgrown her mini micro scooter and I plan to get her a new scooter for Christmas. She's a confident cyclist and has decent gross motor skills generally so I thought a 2 wheeled scooter would work. Grateful for any views on whether the Sprite or Cruiser is better - the pavements here can be a bit bumpy so I was thinking about the Cruiser, but is it worth the extra weight? She will use it for getting to school and short trips, as she tends to cycle longer distances rather than scoot. She's not especially tall (although tall enough for either model) and is quite slight, in case relevant.

We've gone with the cruiser after much debate between the two. Haven't used it yet as its in hiding till Christmas. My first thought when it was delivered was that it wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be, I'd read a couple of reviews mentioning weight, and moving up from the mini I was expecting it to be heavier than it was. We went with it beacuse of the bigger wheels for uneaven surfaces, dgd is a bit accident prone.she uses her scooter daily on the school run, almost everywhere really so the wheels played a bigger part in our decision. Would've liked to have tried one put somewhere but could only find the spite in stores. Doesn't have light up wheels like her current one, but she wasn't that bothered by them. When I was looking at reviews I did come across a couple of parent vlogger reviews and one from a parent who's daughter compared the two types and preferred the sprite. It might be worth popping to a Halfords or another local shop that sells sprites to try your dd on one, I know Decathlon sell the cruiser so might have them in a store if you have one to try. Dgd is 6, slim and a little above average height and I'm confident she'll manage the cruiser.

Forgot to add, from micros site the cruiser weighs the sane as your average cat, but the sprites handle raises higher so will last a child a bit longer. I think the cruisers footplate deck is closer to the ground, good for being sturdy, and it wouldn't be that good for doing stunts if she wants to do that in the future!

The sprite has been a fantastic scooter for us. Both my dds got one for their 5th birthday and they are still in use now at 11 and 9.

Thank you both. I'm inclined towards the Sprite as I know she would love the light-up wheels. But getting her to try them is a good idea.

My DS has had the cruiser since his 5th birthday (now nearly 7). He rides it well but it is a bloody heavy monstrosity! It’s probably not so much the weight but it’s just really awkward to carry. I would go with the sprite if I could choose again.

@Summersummersun that's useful to know as I will need to take it on trains and buses. Between that and the LED wheels, I think the Sprite is the one.
