DS is 5 at Christmas. DD is 1 in January. What do you put in your Christmas Eve boxes? I havenโ€™t done one before. Sooo excited itโ€™s coming ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐ŸŽ„ ๐ŸŽ…

IggyAce · 28/08/2022 20:38

I donโ€™t do a box but Christmas Eve since dcs were small (now 15 & 11) Iโ€™ve done new pjs, reindeer food, hot chocolate and the book twas the night before Christmas. Itโ€™s tradition to read the book before bed, now dcs are older we take turns reading it.

No2incoming · 28/08/2022 20:39

To add to the above, colouring or craft books Xmas themed.

Underthehills · 28/08/2022 20:39

@ladywithnomanors I am jealous of your username. Thatโ€™s genius.

Love this idea. Can't wait for mine to be old enough!

FlippertyGibberts · 28/08/2022 20:40

I don't do a Christmas Eve box because it all just seems a bit close to Christmas. However, I do do a 1st Dec box, which really doesn't cost much at all - it has something like a Christmas book, a Christmas jigsaw, Christmas hats, a chocolate Santa, some Christmas ink stamps, some Christmas activity printouts etc. So only one or two of these things are new, e.g. the Christmas book and the chocolate Santa. The rest are just brought out of storage or whatever. And then these things are used over the rest of the month.

I don't do a Christmas Eve box, we just do a really Christmassy advent calendar (activities) and build up slowly to the big day, which we all love (even the adult ones still join in).

Aria2015 · 28/08/2022 20:42

Pj's, Christmas themed book, sweets, small toy. Didn't have Christmas Eve boxes when I was young, but I really like them ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I was just going to post that I had seen someone before say about a 1st Dec box and I liked that idea. Spreads things out and starts the excitement. DD will be too young this year but might do it in future years- could put Xmas pjs/jumper/socks in it to get lots of wear from them, maybe their advent calendar, a Xmas movie etc

Quizzed · 28/08/2022 20:46

I put in a new pair of Christmas pyjamas, a Christmas book and a Christmas themed chocolate. Nothing to extravagant as ds gets enough over the Christmas period.

CatOfTheLand · 28/08/2022 20:46

Hot chocolate, sprinkles, squirty cream
New toothbrush and toothpaste
New (non Christmas) pjs and slippers
Candy cane (because my daughter loves them)
Christmas teddy
Night before Christmas book (same one each year)
Activity for the day
Breakfast things for that morning
Snacks
Bath stuff
Christmas stocking (same one each year but I've bought two and I pre fill one and switch)

The idea with mine is that it'll help them wind down in the evening and actually go to bed. I try to reuse stuff and buy things that can be used year round.

If you like traditions we also do a North Pole breakfast first weekend of December and a Bethlehem dinner on Christmas Eve (food Jesus would have eat - so tapas like meal of hummus, olives, flat bread, lamb chops, dates, figs etc. It's my husband and kids' favourite types of food and so easy to prepare so no washing up!).

PritiPatelsMaker · 28/08/2022 20:46

PJs, hot choc, reindeer food and a relaxing bath bomb.

When they were younger they'd have a Christmas book each.

The youngest (15) was outraged that there was no reindeer food last year so I had to make some Grin๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2022 20:47

Xmas pjs

chocolate coins

Christmas story book

Christmas colouring book and pencils etx

hot choc/marshmallows cone

cheistmassy boppers

CatOfTheLand · 28/08/2022 20:47

Forgot to add reindeer food and craft kits

This is a great idea ! I'll be living my Xmas eve boxes to a December box!

JumpTheGun · 28/08/2022 20:48

We tend to do a 1st December box with advent calendars and some Xmas crafts and books.

On Xmas Eve we do new PJs, hot choc and maybe something else (a puzzle, colouring etc) that they can do for half an hour before bedtime.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/08/2022 20:48

Pjs
Movie
Game

lorisparkle · 28/08/2022 20:49

We loved the idea of giving the children a brand new pair of pyjamas to wear so they look lovely for Christmas morning photos. We wrap them up with a small chocolate reindeer or elf and then secretly leave them on their pillows on the evening of Christmas Eve. They are all teenagers now and I still managed to get the present secretly in their bed!

TeddyBeans · 28/08/2022 20:51

DS is 4. His box consists of

Personalised christmas book
Santa treat and milk tray
Milk bottle
Chocolate coins
Santa key
Christmas DVD
Cookie making kit
Some form of Christmas crafty thing
New PJs

TheBatwoman · 28/08/2022 20:53

Itโ€™s a really lovely idea and some great suggestions here. Canโ€™t wait to do it, but think my twins are a bit young this year (will only be 15 months!)

I spent a lot of my childhood in Europe and so we used to do similar for St Nicholas day on 6th Dec. We often got little Xmas toys, decorations or treats.

KangarooKenny · 28/08/2022 20:54

Can anyone suggest a nice box for an older teenage girl ? Iโ€™ve never done this before so want to make it nice.

How about just wrapping a shoe box in some really nice wrapping paper?

PritiPatelsMaker · 28/08/2022 20:57

If you want to foot @TheBatwoman I don't think they're too young. You could do a nice pair of pjs or a sleep suit, a picture book and a bath bomb.

I was thinking more of something she can keep and use. Might have a look in Home Sense
