Is there much difference between them? How do you decide which one to get? Thoughts on if either are worth the money? Thanks!

Just had a look at Voxblock and it looks OK, but how expensive are the books though, quite a few £££s more expensive than the Yoto cards. And do the recycled cardboard book things hold up well? And do they fall out. I find the yoto cards easy to store, and no worry if you ever loose one, it's always on your yoto app. We use our yoto mini without WiFi on holiday, in the car etc. The screen with the clock and night light on the bigger player has been a really useful function and the podcasts are a hit too. I think we'll stick with our yotos, the voxblock looks interesting but it's not quite there yet and the cost of the books is off putting.

For me the big advantage of Yoto is the huge range of content including the ability to make your own cards, which can work out much cheaper. It's not just audiobooks; there's music, radio and podcasts.

We have a Yoto and it is used daily by 11 and 9 year olds. I've also downloaded meditations and relaxation hypnotherapy things for the kids for Make Your Own cards. The player is in my son's room and my daughter listens on the app on an old phone. I also have the app on my phone which we use when away.
I've also made my own music card to listen to when I'm cleaning their rooms.
It is such a versatile thing, and we use the nightlight and sleep timer so I will turn the volume down and the player off if the kids are listening as they fall asleep.
Yoto are also making improvements regularly and releasing new cards constantly. I think it is incredible value for money.

Yoto all the way - we got ours when twins 2.5 years old, now 5 years old and have used it every day since. I looked at both at the time, and for me it was down to price of cards, variety of content, and the likelihood that the kids would use for many years to come.

also big vote for the monthly subscription. Two cards a month for almost 3 years adds up to a LOT of choices.

I did a lot of research on pros/cons of Yoto versus Tonie. I got a Yoto for my 2.5 year olds for Christmas. I haven't opened it yet, but hopefully they'll like it!

Hi all, is there much difference between the full size Yoto and the mini? Are there things they can do on the big one but not the mini?

NameChange30 · 19/09/2022 12:49

The full size (Yoto original) has a bigger screen and a nightlight. It has a charging dock. The battery life is shorter. It doesn't have the functionality to use wireless headphones so you have to use wired headphones with it.

The mini obviously has a smaller screen, and no nightlight. It's charged via cable I think so not quite as easy for younger children. The battery life is longer. Yoto is working on an update so that you can use it with wireless headphones.

I think which one you go for depends on the age of your child and how they're likely to use it. DC1 has an original (the mini wasn't out yet) and likes the nightlight. For DC2, who is obsessed with DC1's Yoto so we wanted to get her one of her own to avoid fights, it was a tough call, but as she's only just turned 2 we thought an original would be easier for her to use.

I might get them a mini (to share) for travel next summer.

Hi!

We would really recommend the yoto as the cards are smaller so easier to transport if you are out and about- we have taken ours on holiday with us many times and the kids love having their stories with them for the plane etc. If you join the yoto card club you get some great value cards and are really good range of stories.
My 3 years old has no problems using the yoto and my 6 year old uses it for times tables, stories and now music too which is fun.

I have a code for 10% off if you need one and it gives us some vouchers too prz.io/641RnPmT1

I’d never heard of the yoto until recently. We bought DD5 a Tonies last year for Christmas and she loves it. Listens to it in her room and takes it in the car , plus she plays with the figures. A little bit limited on choice and it is quite expensive to buy the figures but she’s definitely had good use out of it so far!
