Where to take 10 and 12 year old for a Christmas Day out?

Visits to Father Christmas are no more.

Farm parks that offer festive days are probably out too.

Where can we go?

Thinking longleat but it's so so expensive!

Also thinking a place where they do the light trail. Blenheim palace or similar but not sure if that will be boring for them.

Help!

Panto is good for all ages.

Light trails too. You mention Blenheim and that's definitely a good one. They dress the house up with a festive theme, so you can explore inside as well as the light trail and the courtyard has a festive fairground (and great banana and Nutella crepes!).

London Eye at night and Longleat are two things I am pondering this year. Also Harry Potter World is beautifully decorated i believe, so thinking about that too.

The festive afternoon tea sounds good, might look into that.

A Xmas activity mine do every year and 16 year old loves it is painting a Xmas decoration. It is made of clay. You can choose a bell, star, bauble or Xmas tree and you paint it yourself then leave it to get fired and collect or have posted to you 2 weeks later. We always do last week in November or first week of December. When kids leave home they have their own set of Xmas tree decorations. They also do a 3 d Xmas tree with little holes in it where fairy lights pop out once fired. They are my favourite decorations. I am in West Midlands but maybe other places do this. Then we go into coffee shop for homemade gateau and hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. Takes about 2-3 hours in all.

All the last lovely old heritage houses at NT are dressed for traditional Xmas. Also Xmas markets are nice for older kids to pick up bits as gifts.

We do festive lights and the pantomime. Book early!

@caringcarer where is this activity in the midlands? Thank you :)

www.amertonpottery.co.uk/. For paint a pot Xmas activity. You will need to book about 3 weeks before you want to go.

We usually see a show in London and have a wander around afterwards looking at the lights.
Thinking of doing Blenheim this year, as we are only about an hour away from there.
Ds is 13 he also loves ice skating.
