Thank you letter guilt

DS2 is writing his; ds1 hasn't started yet. I really must crack the whip.

We had a thank you letter a week ago from the postman
I only gave him a fiver when I saw him in the street before Christmas!

Maybe it's Royal Mail policy to try and increase their stamp revenue after Christmas by shaming us into getting thank you letters written and sent.

Anyone else had a thank you letter from the postie?!

hi

we have just started and they have counted out that the need to do 14 each. BUT we only get one...it has already arrived from my mum and dad.

DD enjoys doing them, DS needs a push to get started then he too enjoys it.

Santaquated · 04/01/2008 12:47

ps
our postie had nothing to thank us for!

DD's are done and sent. Have to admit I heated a bit. I wrote the letters with DD sat beside me - she told me roughly what she wanted to say and I wrote it down for her. Although her writing and spelling is coming on really well, we had a lot to do and it would have taken ages. She wrote "Love from DD" with kisses at the bottom of them all.

I make a point of taking photos of DCs with their presents from people and then write thanks on it in silver pen once printed out and that is their thankyou photos done usually by boxing day. Not only do the kids say thanks but the present givers get to see the DCs faces! Have done it 2 years in a row now and had very positive feedback!

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2008 23:08

Was just feeling this guit before I came to bed (and found time for MN)
Once written, to my godmother who sent DS money in early December rest should be done tomorrow
I hate writing them - whatever you write and however sincere you feel they always come out as insincere, but they need to be done

Ok, I was fairly organised this Xmas and posted out thank you cards on 2nd Jan. However, last Christmas and the one before + DS's birthday, I couldn't be arsed. My family and friends probably opened their cards and said 'Oh, now she bothers to acknowledge our lovingly selected gifts, eh! Cowbag!'

Thank you letters by Boxing Day .......... [falls off Earth]

Actually I have a (much-loved) SIL who manages that. I think she is made of finer stuff than most mortals.

We are doing thank-you letter bootcamp - at least one per day, max two - because I like them to have at least a tiny bit of spark.

Nowt from postie .. not that we even have a regular assigned person here. Dh did get a thank-you hamper from the builders though - doubt that's a common one?

hoxtonchick · 04/01/2008 23:32

ds wrote 2 today. i'm not sure who enjoyed doing it the least, him or me. and i fear they may have been thrown away when dp did over-zealous tidying. oh god, will have to re-do them & it was like getting blood from a stone. dd made 2 cards so they'll do for grandparents.

Miaou · 04/01/2008 23:37

Dd1 and dd2 have written theirs without me even asking them to!! I asked dd1 if they were ready for posting yet and she said "no, we're decorating them!"

bossybritches · 04/01/2008 23:39

AS long as they're done by the 12th day of Christmas (according to the sainted MIL) we're OK.

That's Sunday innit?? PANICCCCC!

madamez · 04/01/2008 23:46

DS is 3 and I have threatened him with the Art BOx tomorrow - but I have been waiting for his runny nose to stop so I can send snot-free photos to the elderly aunts and that is my excuse and I am farking sticking with it.

Spidermama · 04/01/2008 23:50

Mine have already arrived at their destinations. They're not just grubby little letters either. Oh no. We're talking full, all-colour painted pictures with writing inside. And I have four kids.

[We REALLY need a preen/smug emoticon.]

In all honesty DH sat round the table and did it with them while I was out.

AnnakeyRules · 04/01/2008 23:51

I need to think of a brilliant plan- and quickly (by Sunday, did you say, bossy?...)
I have dd's Christmas and birthday thankyou letters to write, and nothing to write them on.
There are literally dozens to do, and I've been putting it off

amytheearwaxbanisher · 04/01/2008 23:52

we got one from the postie and from the binmen!

MrsWeasley · 04/01/2008 23:53

If thank you's are done early it may eb becuase the Adults have sneeked in the pressies and already got them prepared!

Actually our Thank you's were done on xmas day by my DD (she is 12 and loves writing letters)
We told asked the DC's to do them so we could set up the Wii (they didn't know they were getting one and it was waaaaay after lunch time)
