And instead of sitting here I should really tidy up!

Have just finished putting it into piles.

The lounge carpet looks disgusting now everything has moved. Especially a ground-in Roses toffee. Just having a cuppa now and will shift it later. Hope no one decides to pop in

We had to rearrange tiny lounge to accomodate tree in corner by moving DHs stereo unit upstairs..... have just moved toys inot said corner....viola!

turkEgyptlets · 03/01/2008 14:00

Tree still up, presents still under, unwrapped of course, but played with every day. Some are in playroom, but come on, that's what christmastime is like. Chill, enjoy! I'll take tree down on 4th, my bday on 5th.

pirategirl · 03/01/2008 14:03

I started slowly taking bits upstairs 3 days ago. I am doing tis very slowly.
Tree is still up tho. cards are down.

Need some sort of storage in dd's room. Ikea looks best bet but its 2 hours or more away, and i am not sure if i could fir all i need in the car, to make the trip worthwhile.

Prob could do with a good wardrobe with shelves.

pirategirl · 03/01/2008 14:04

lowfat what storage did you get?

moljam · 03/01/2008 14:05

mines still on floor too.need to tackle upstairs too but theres too many excuses and reasons not too!

glaskham · 03/01/2008 14:32

clothes were all put away on boxing day, toys the day after aswell as the tree coming out then too so i could bring the kids enormous toy box back in to chuck em all in....but all the old toys that we're taken out to be freecycled to make room for the new ones are sat in a big binliner in my dining room!!

SorenLorensen · 03/01/2008 14:41

Ours aren't put away either - mainly because I don't know where to put them! But they are neatly piled on top of a storage unit in the dining room - so it's not so bad, really. And I put Christmas away on NYD so we're semi-back-to-normal. Could do with a run round with a duster and a vacuum though. Might enlist the kids and do that this afternoon (or might just let them carry on playing on the Wii and stay on MN...)

I always make sure I've got two laundry baskets ready on Christmas day. After the initial inspection of the presents, they go in the baskets - one each - so they are kept together and nothing gets lost. The baskets are still in the living room - but it's easy to tidy the new things every evening
.
to taking the tree down before Twelfth Night!

ivykaty44 · 03/01/2008 17:01

Its unlucky both ways round. Something about the tree spirits coming in the house if you take the decs down before 12th night - so unlucky for the rest of the year.

Stuff still in piles here but we did only get back yesterday. Have tidied away the Advent stuff - put all the Lego that came in the Lego one in a box on top of the other Lego box. Playmobile advent calendar is back in its bag and advent calendar ready to be put away.

Planning on taking tree and decs down on Saturday morning while DH and DS are at football.

The pile of 4 cookery books plus 'Detox for Dummies' that I got are on coffee table for me to peruse. DS's annuals and books are in another pile. DVD's have managed to be put into cupboard.

emkana · 03/01/2008 20:11

Everything has been put away now.

Yes, you motivated me to doing it too, emkana Toys are put away (well, sort of - ds2's room is sooo teeny and really needs a good clear-out but I'll do it when he's back at school). And I vacuuumed, ds1 dusted, ds2 mopped the kitchen floor...and I sorted out the cupboard where we keep all the medicines/first aid stuff and threw out all the out of date things. And I listened to Abba the whole time and sang along very loudly. Quite a productive afternoon!

i put a few away!well i put them in big plastic boxes and shoved them under coffee table!does that count?

saffy202 · 03/01/2008 21:26

I always leave the piles of presents out until NYE. Then have a mad tidying up session in case any first footers call round.

JustMissyNow · 03/01/2008 21:27

i am not alone!

lizziemun · 03/01/2008 22:05

Yes but in my defence i have taken both dd1 & DD2 up stairs but dd1 has bought most of it back down today.

Dottydot · 03/01/2008 22:07

I'm still trying to find homes for everything! Really need a charity shop sort out asap but haven't felt up to it. But the decorations are coming down on Saturday so the great Sort Out will commence very soon...
