My children are now 20,18 and 15 and we have had a gerat family Christmas.
Started with the girls coming into our room to see us open our stockings and show us thier stocking presents. Then we all wntout for Christmas Dinner and a local Pub resterant. We also took our disabled friend with us. Came home after lunch and opened the main presnts around the tree. Dh and I took our friend home at about 6. Then we came back and watche The doctor Who Christmas special with DD3, The other 2 spent time chating together. After Doctor Who we all had a family tea together and even DD3 had some wineas she wanted to try some. She decided she didn't like it so went back to her 7up!
After tea we all watcher The Miracle on 34th Street(one of DD1's stocking presents).
The day was particurlary good as DD2 18 doesn't spend that much time with us on normal days.

No fighting, no arguments, mine was the best weve had for about 5 years. last year DS1 20 threatened to 'lamp' DD1 (19), and the year before DS2 (9) threw a glass of wine at DD1 soaking her new dress. So this year, I had peace for the day and night, maybe they have finally grown up. Lovely.

sounds fab mummee, ours was pretty good too, reminds you how much you love 'em, don't you think? It does me anyway.

discoverlife, sounds relaxed and chilled with you too, merry Christmas to you all.

It hasn't ended yet, I have my wedding anniversary yet followed by whole family visit to Grandmothers 2 hours away with them all in the car on the 1st. Lets see what happens.

Me

They're 19, 16 and 14.

Great lie-in, appreciative of their pressies and got together to get us some nice stuff to. Helped out with the clearing up after lunch and came along to mum's for tea without moaning. We're all chilling out together today too.

I did I am worried about what it will be like as they grow older and maybe spend christmas at boyfriends/girlfriends houses....On Christmas eve we had the grandparents round and my ds's girlfriend, then ds and his girlfriend went out and he came back at 1am. On Christmas day we went to my parents where all the family were, and today we went to inlaws and dd1 left about 7pm to go to a party and ds left about the same time to go to cinema with a group of friends. That left me and dd2 with the rest of the family. I thought that was ok as the kids were spending time with us and their friends, or do you think i should make them stay with family for those two main days of Christmas??

nah, sounds like a good compromise blossom.

Me - 2 boys, 14 & 15.5.

Both were v appreciative of their gifts and have been fab over the last couple of days, despite the fact that we have shipped them (and their 5yo sister) from pillar to post.

Hi have 2 teenage ds, 13 and 15 and they were really great on Christmas day. They seem to be getting on well at the moent because believe me when they fight- argh!! However, as i have a ds of 10, a dd of 5 and another ds of 2 and 11 wks pregnant with number 6 the older boys were a great help to me and my dh - even doing the kitchen cleaning after the meal!! Bless!!!

Wish they could keep their bedrooms tidy though...... a bit too much to ask I think...maybe I'll suggest this as their new years resolutions.....

just glad to have great family... and as my mum always says ... there will be untidy rooms to do when they are all grown up and gone and you will wish you hadn;t stressed so much...

Me - DS 13 was lovely with the little ones, played music for the carols, and stayed up and talked to us and was really funny and good company. And he looked fab in his party clothes.

Me2...tho they weren't too impressed with my getting very merry on Christmas day and needing dh to put me to bed.

I had warned them when they were toddlers throwing tantrums in Tesco that I'd get them back in the embarrassment stakes when they were teenagers.
