Biggest hits are hideous make up set and a Bob the Builder straw.
Oh, and a wind up ladybird and a Snow White video.

No but I'm sure soemone would.Although a gift is a gift imo thats all

ibroughtxmascake · 26/12/2007 23:12

I'd rather they just didn't buy anything in the first place. I really can see the appeal of no present birthday parties (not including relatives)

moondog · 26/12/2007 23:13

Me too Brought.
It sits badly with me when half the world is starving. Not in a goody goody way, just in a logical way. Noddy, I agree and would never tell sopmeone to their face that their pressie was awful. i do appreciate the sentiment-just not the gift in most cases!

I am thinking it would be ideal for a shepherd in Sunday school nativity next year.

I know you are the adult, that fact was never in dispute.

Would it just not be better to tell people not to buy your kids stuff as you don't want it? Or could you tell them to give a donation to charity as you are well off & don't approve of their plastic tat?

moondog · 26/12/2007 23:17

I do tell them.
They choose not to listen!

I always envy you your exotic lifestyle {snigger]

There was a book that DD had last year, never looked at and in pristine conditioned... regifted during the year, and low and behold the bloody thing is back (distant relative so not the SAME book iyswim) - I don't know whether to take it as a sign and keep the thing, or just regift again...

moondog · 26/12/2007 23:22

lol at awful gifts reappearing.
My flatmate once gave the woman who had organised her 30th birthday party the box of chocolates that said woman had given her the night before. Drink had been taken.

Poor dh. One of the things I love about him is his utter lack of interest in things.
An exquisite piece of antique silver or an antique tile rrom the steppes of entral Asia would be most agreeable.

Instead I get greasy Ukrainian chocolate (I neer eat chocolate!) and a stinky goatskin!!!

We got one dubious outfit for DD - I looked at it and wasn't convinced, DH said to give her the choice - so I asked if she wanted to keep it and wear it or change it for another outfit... she opted change it. Even at 4yrs old the kid has better taste than some relatives!

ibroughtxmascake · 26/12/2007 23:42

People do seem to get it so wrong don't they. Even with book list on Amazon mil still went and bought the books SHE wanted DD to have, not the ones DD would actually enjoy.

As an aside she did spend the whole of xmas day dressed as a xmas tree which was amusing to one and all and an improvment on last years fairy godmother complete with wand and tiara.

moondog · 26/12/2007 23:43

Ah how hilarious.
In that case, she can be forgiven all masnner of sins surely?

I told my MIL to buy dds clothes as they have loads of toys and they are3 growing out of their clothes.

MIL bought yet another colouring set (she has had about 10 colour magic sets) yet more toys and some clothes. i wouldn't mind but she hasn't the money to waste spend on the children really.

ibroughtxmascake · 26/12/2007 23:48

It really was hilarious she refused to take her shoes off because they were red and completed the xmas tree look, she even had an alice band with the wobbly springs and two big stars on top all day

AwayinaMargoNooNooCribForABed · 26/12/2007 23:51

surreal! Could you put a picture on your profile for our amusement approval?

ibroughtxmascake · 26/12/2007 23:56

looks through camera, wouldn't dare, DP would go mad. Him and his brother positively cringe every year when she turns up, whilst SIL and I peek through the curtains waiting to see what she is this year, we are hoping for a xmas pud next year
