Are your children sleeping?

Mine were out like a light at 8.15? When I was little it would be midnight and I still wouldn't be able to sleep with excitement on Christmas Eve. Not my kids, oh no, heads hit the pillow and it's game over!

I'm not complaining, it makes life easier for FC but I'm surprised!

mines a pain in the bum. 2 and a half and the mind of a 16 year old on blue smarties. she just wont go to sleep. we've tried the nice aproach, the stories and even bribery but shes not havin any of it. lol

ChippolataMinton · 24/12/2007 21:35

Asleep, and Santa has been. We didn't hear hime sneak in though

horsemadgal · 24/12/2007 21:45

Mine napped this afternoon from 4.30 to 7pm, so might be up a good bit longer, gah! Oh well I'm sure we'll get a lie in anyway.

Hulababy · 24/12/2007 21:47

DD (5) was asleep by about 8:45 in the end - took her a little while to go to sleep but she was so tired I think tiredness won over excitment in the end.

BandofReindeerwaitingontheroof · 24/12/2007 21:49

Both asleep just after 7, leaving just enough wrapping time.

Santa has snuck past me here too

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 24/12/2007 21:53

DD1 and DD2 asleep at 9.
DS1 and DS2 in bed now, not sure if they are asleep but all is quiet. I made sure to completly wear them out today!

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 24/12/2007 21:56

lottymadbird - no he reakky is at midnight mass I made him check as he would have turned up at 11.30pm and the church would have been shut, he is teetotal and taken the car as well.

Unfortunately I am pregnant so no nice glass of red with my mince pie this year.

The bloody cats are driving me utterly mad, you know what cats are like if anything new comes into the house they act all spooked and must investigate. They have been in the prams and the Princess playhouse thing already!

maximummummy · 24/12/2007 22:27

my ds(3) took a whole hour to go to sleep. . . finally asleep at 10pm. . . . was way too excited about father xmas . . . i finally had to give him pretend sleeping medicine[apple juice] & stroke his feet as he'd got to the point of tears. . . . i even had to take his stocking out of his room as he couldn't bear the suspence!!!!
dd(13) went off earlier than usual and haven't seen or heard her since!

RIELOVESBACARDI · 24/12/2007 22:33

1 out of 7 asleep its gonna be along night

Domesticgodlessyemerrygents · 24/12/2007 22:36

weirdly ds1, age 4, was BETTER at going to bed tonight than he has almost ever been.

Not a single irrelevant visitation/ sound of musical instruments clashing together/ baths being run etc.

He is a very literal little chap and I told him today that Santa won't come while he is awake. So I think he has gone to bed properly for once in order to impress him

He also went round checking all our fireplaces for blockages to ensure Santa could get in

Islamum · 24/12/2007 22:39

dd, 7 weeks hasn't slept all day and has only justbdrifed off - she could sleep till 3 she could wake up in 5 mins - i'm knackered just finished wapping pressies

onlyjoking9329 · 24/12/2007 22:41

my 3 wanted to go to bed at 4.30 as they thought that santa would be here quicker then

Domesticgodlessyemerrygents · 24/12/2007 22:47

oj, did you let them (I would be tempted I have to say, for a quiet afternoon!!) or would that result in them being awake at 11pm for the 'day' demanding pressies etc??

onlyjoking9329 · 24/12/2007 22:50

no it would not be a good plan as the day has to start whenever they wake up, they don't quite get the time thing. they went to bed at 7, DS will be up by 5am and steve will be up many times in the night, oh deepest joy.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 24/12/2007 22:53

DD2 went at 7pm, ds and dd1 went at 8pm but dd1 screamed and fussed all the way

Have since spent time getting out the presents, filling stockings and putting together playmobil police station...aww tis definetly christmas

Domesticgodlessyemerrygents · 24/12/2007 22:56

I have followed your other thread OJ, with intense admiration- I really hope that you have a memorable day tomorrow with Steve and the kids and shoot some footage to treasure...

And I so hope you can get some sleep and Steve has a more settled night if that's possible for him right now - is there another adult family member on standby to help out (and cook the dinner tomorrow??)

onlyjoking9329 · 24/12/2007 23:22

no admiration needed i am only doing what others would do in the same situation.
we will be spending christmas here at home, steve is not eating at the moment and the kids being autistic want their favorite thing. heinz spag bol and maccaroni cheese so that is easy to sort out
