he's coming to us for dinner so I don't want to leave him out of the gift giving. He always gets brandy from everyone so I want a nice idea that costs about a tenner and I'll be your best mate forever (don't tell Maureen!).

FANKS

KBear - my two have painted wall tiles for their various rellies, to use as coasters. I do realised that this may be hard to arrange at such short notice though!

They are making him a christmas cracker each as we speak! They are picking his favourite Heroes out of the tin and filling them with them and writing abysmal jokes! He'll love it.

Story on CD
DVD/Video/Newspaper of the year he was born
Book on the local history of the area he grew up in

Myrrhcy · 22/12/2007 17:39

Oh, that's a great idea!

another idea - though only any good if you have a laminator.
Make a bookmark with pictures of the kids on both sides and laminate.
I did them for all the grandparents last year - 2 dc's so one on on each side, their name at the top and the year at the bottom and three little pics.
Am doing it again this year with new pics.
A friend is doing it this year with the grandparents names (granddad etc) at the top (she has 3 kids so can't do one on each side).
You could roll it up and it could go in the cracker.

KBear, we're in Wilts. Dp could post it on Monday morning but obv wouldn't make it in time for Christmas.

Tooticky - thanks for the offer but I think we're sorted! Does he have a website though, for future reference?

Go to one of those wildlife on-line sites & adopt a goat or the back end of a tiger or something that'll make the kids laugh & he's enjoy talking to them about. Nothing material so it won't offend him but something the children will enjoy doing & supports a worthy cause!

(& the children might learn a bit-in a fun way- about the animal at the same time!!]

TooTickyDoves · 22/12/2007 20:33

Yes Kbear - here

twentypence · 22/12/2007 20:35

An empty box (decorated by your children). Then they get to give him a gift - and he gets exactly what he wanted - nothing!
