Highs and lows - light hearted

Thought it might be fun to share some highs and lows of Christmas.

I really loved having fabric reuseable gift bags - much faster for wrapping!

And we had kittens to share Christmas with for the first time

Low was the relatives missing from the celebration and also that I felt quite anxious in the run up to Christmas.

Hi- having my baby boys first Xmas
Low- Xmas marks him being 6 months which means I only have another 6 months before I have to go back to work.

@Snog

How do you use the fabric bags? Are people supposed to give them back to you?!

Great name BTW

Snog · 26/12/2021 18:12

@Luredbyapomegranate I mainly use for within the family and instead of everyone throwing the wrapping away I just take the fabric bags back and keep for next time.

If I won't be there when the present is opened I just wrap with paper.

Loves - Christmas Day walk with the dog. DD loving everything she’s been given. Preparing the table. Playing silly games.

Lows - my friend died on Christmas Eve afternoon. It was very unexpected. I’ve had to hold it together all day and paint a smile on. I am saving my grief for when I am alone, it’s hard.

Highs - being home with my children, having a nice dinner, played a game together, they loved their presents
Low - think we have Covid again - all feeling unwell and sleeping for much of the time yesterday and today.

Howmanysleepsnow · 26/12/2021 19:41

Highs: seeing the DC and DH open their presents. Being able to have my parents over for Christmas.

Lows: my dad broke one of the spindles on the banister by crashing a remote control car into a table which fell through the spindle. The puppy stole the ham while I was carrying food to the table.

Highs - also those tie bag things to wrap presents in, not fabric though! Mostly it being lovely having all the step kids here and it being wonderfully chaotic.

Lows: cooking lunch. My dp is a stressy cook who won’t accept help, and I have vowed that next year we are definitely eating out to avoid that situation again!

Low - marks and spencer turkey Gravy 🤮🤬

Highs - everything , it’s all gone well , everyone seemed to like their presents and my sister cooked a great dinner both days
Lows - I am struggling to maintain a reasonable BP so feel a bit crap .

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 26/12/2021 22:24

Highs - took DS to the outdoor skating in town. Had a lovely get together with my best friends which we missed last year. Playing Catan with DS and DH after Christmas dinner.
Lows - didn't get to speak to my mom, she's in hospital after surgery for secondary cancer and feeling too weak. Having procrastinated on a university assignment I'm now having to do it on my Xmas break.

Misshape · 27/12/2021 15:11

Highs - Christmas Day was lovely, everyone was happy and we are great food
Lows - DS turned 20 yesterday and actually threw a strop over a game yesterday evening - took the shine off a wonderful couple of days.
Also I’ve totally overdone it. My illnesses are flaring and now I’m stuck on the sofa with a hot water bottle
