We are having IL's to house for Christmas day and BIl is having them Boxing Day.

MIL is a moaner and FIL just sleeps, Aunt is great and happy to help out or entertain the DC's - so always welcome.

DH wants his dad to be able to relax properly and enjoy a drink on Christmas day as he has had a hard year, and working in the Post Office has not really been winding down recently IYSWIM.

So DH will phone home tonight and is currently pondering whether or not to ask his DM, DD and DA to stay over on Christmas night.

We can jsut squeeze them in if DH and I have the sofa, but is it worth it because of loss of privacy and DH and I loosing the only calm night we have off together in the holiday season.

They will be going to BIL the next day which is a 2 hour drive from ours, but is just back down the road from them, so does not mean loads of travel at awkwards times etc.

I think one night would be bliss....
We have them to stay for days on end

we have ours christmas night, but I refuse to have then christmas eve night as I want christmas morning to ourselves.
Slightly different situation as although MIL annoys the hell out of me - she is very kind hearted and doesn't do anything specific which annoys me, FIL is also a sleeper. Additionally we have a spare room so we don't get turfed out of our room to the sofa.

When DH phoned last night FIL was really poorly with a cold so DH did'nt ask, but we'll probably get the cold anyway as they'll be here most of the day!
