Jesus, have just realised no stocking fillers and can't face town this w/e, what is the least painful solution?

Tescos? Garage? B&Q?

Who has good ideas for me NOW with minimal elbowing?

DS1 & 2 are 8 and 3 respectively, DS3 too young to care at 4 months but will have to have one since brothers will mutiny if Father Christmas forgets him...

Or do I return to my own hippy childhood and make do with a tangerine and some home made Carob bar...?

Tescos should have a good selection of small things. Remember chocolate coins.

Weegle · 20/12/2007 15:17

I know Christmas is all about Jesus but he might have more important things on his agenda than stocking fillers...

That said - head to a small provincial town - they're virtually empty at the moment as everyone is in the big towns.

PanicPressiePants · 20/12/2007 15:17

Do an old fashioned stocking with oranges, cocoanuts, big red juicy apples and treats from the supermarket.

I', doing that anyway for Dp and Ds.

merryTissmas · 20/12/2007 15:17

Tescos.

Pencils, notebooks, sweets,plastic tat....

For some reason FC always gives dd some toothpaste

seeker · 20/12/2007 15:18

I bet tomorrow won't be too bad. I'm hoping not, anyway.....still got lots to do!

Actually, Christmas Eve is often a surprisingly peaceful shopping day. Much to my relief!

Maidamess · 20/12/2007 15:18

Asda do lots of art stuff, sweets, books, crackers, comics. I'm sure you can whizz round tonight when the marauding hoardes have gone and come up with some lovely ideas. How come you've left it so late? (not judging!)

SelfishMrsClaus · 20/12/2007 15:19

Woolworths at 9am - 9.10 am. But you have to really be there bang on - and then get the hell out. You cna't linger and arrive at 9.30.

Won't Tesco be more crowded than anywhere else?

A stationary shop or v good newsagents.

I bought all of DS's stocking fillers (and a couple of main presents) in the Science Museum Shop and the Natural history Museum shop next door. Anywhere like that near you?

Myrrhcy · 20/12/2007 15:22

Same situation here.

Have just bought a comic/magazine for each child, plus chocolate coins, little notebooks and pens from local newsagent. And a little soap and a bubble bath from local chemist.

kerryk · 20/12/2007 15:24

local chemist!!!!!! i got loads of nice little things in there (for dd's but i suppose there must have been boys things as well)

Blu · 20/12/2007 15:24

I was in John Lewis in Sloane Sq 6-8pm on Monday and it was completely deserted.

Their Dr Who action figures are much cheaper than anywhere else, and the hideous useless bloody Hybrid Sec Voice Changer Masks have already been reduced to £14.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 20/12/2007 15:25

anyone seen one of those "magic" baby bottles where the "milk" disappears when you tip it up? ELC, Woollies, John Lewis etc all don't have them.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/12/2007 15:25

supermarkets also have socks and slippers, hats and gloves. Loads of stuff thats not all crap but fills up a stocking nicely.

Myrrhcy · 20/12/2007 15:26

Kerry - yes, things for boys. I got a really small Thomas bubble bath for ds.

fortyplus · 20/12/2007 15:26

Tesco... Gold chocolate coins, tube of smarties or whatever they like, t-shirt that they'll love but you hate, DVD, colouring book, new felt pens, maybe a stapler...

Maidamess · 20/12/2007 15:26

5gold, ok I can see why! FWIW I've bought a load of pound tat, which I know I will be disposing of before Easter. Why do I bother??

JingleyJen · 20/12/2007 15:27

Check out late night shopping options - leave kindlings with OH and go - I went to boarders book shop yesterday and got lots of stuff from their discovery centre - if all else fails get online and pay extra for next day delivery

EmilyDavidson · 20/12/2007 15:30

I don't think town will be that busy this weekend. Most people have finished present shopping. I bet tesco will be absolutely packed though!
