Ideas, please, for a 5 year old DGD who likes cooking. Apparently she’s already got a set of child’s cookery equipment. Are there books simple enough ( she can read)? Any ideas gratefully accepted!
She likes hair bands too but I don’t know where to find ‘special’ ones.
Like others, I’m trying to buy for children who already have so much. So again any bright ideas for 2 year old DGD or 8 year old DGS v welcome too.

I came on expecting to read about restless legs or something! Grin

This has good reviews
fisrtcookbook

As does this
cookbook

Both books have reviews that mention 4/5 year olds cooking and using the books so seem age appropriate.

Try Claires for funky headbands.

I can cook have a couple of books on amazon based off the cbeebies cooking series for children around her age. Lakeland also used to do a range of their products but that was yonks ago now

Last year my DM bought my DDs lovely personalised aprons and cake tins from a shop called Jonny's Sister. They are lovely.

I thought you were looking for presents for a birdwatching older lady Grin

My kids always love a box of craft supplies. Not a ready made box from a shop, just a cardboard box full of paper, pens, scissors, glue, Sellotape. My kids get Sellotape in their stocking every year because they're always stealing mine.
I like this sort of present because it always gets used up and always needs replacing. Big chunky crayons for the 2 yr old?

Ds also likes getting baking kits, you know the ones you buy in supermarkets and just need to add eggs or oil or something. He loves 'proper'baking with a recipe book too but there are always days when we don't have much time or I just can't face the mess of him weighing out flour and raking through the cupboards for ingredients.

Nadiya Hussein's book Bake Me A Story is a good one for younger children.
Have a look at CookieCrumbles too for kits. www.cookiecrumbles.co.uk/
Bath bombs seem to be universally liked by all the kids I know.

Ozanj · 15/12/2021 12:52

Get her a real baking kit and then make a set of individual ‘vouchers’ inviting her to come to grandma’s to bake specific things.

2 year old? Saxoflute.

Cooking wise, buy some baking kits. Dr oetiker does some great ones. No toys to store and easy baking.

Snakedoctor · 15/12/2021 13:09

My MiL has made a baking hamper for my DD, including ready cake mix, cookie cutters, icing pens, edible glitter, cake toppers.

I was worried that there was something seriously wrong with Grandma and the OP should be calling 999 not posting on MN about her.

This is great - www.craftandcrumb.com/pages/bakingsubscriptiongift

They do a monthly craft and baking subscription for kids along with one of gifts (aimed at 5-8 year old) www.craftandcrumb.com/collections/kits-for-midi-bakers-5-8-year-olds
