Rnm62 · 14/12/2021 01:38

Any ideas for stocking fillers for a just turned one year old?

So far I have:

Light up ball
Rainbow slinky
Christmas dummies
Tube of milkybar buttons
Chocolate coins
Christmas pyjamas
Jumbo crayons
Christmas bauble
Christmas socks

More ideas would be fab. Thank you!

That is plenty for a 1 year old. I wouldn’t put chocolate in though. They don’t need it.

I would add a book.

Thanks! Any book recommendations? I’ve got him the “that’s not my..” Christmas collection set which has 5 books. But I suppose they can’t have too many!

I agree with @Theoldwoman - that’s plenty for a 1 year old. I wouldn’t personally put the chocolate in. I have a 1 year old (14months) and he hasn’t had any chocolate/sweets crisps/biscuits or anything yet - I just don’t see the need but I know everyone has very different opinions on that 🤷🏻‍♀️

For stocking mine has:
Christmas soft toy
Bath crayons
10 Little Elves book
Sleigh bells (musical instrument)

Main Gifts:
Toy kitchen
Toy food
Wooden shopping trolley
Melissa & Doug cleaning set
Melissa & Doug latches board
Some 2/3/4 piece jigsaws
More books (can never have too many in my opinion)

He’s got more than enough toys just now so I’ve tried to go for things that he’ll like just now but that he’ll get even more use out of when he’s a bit older 🤞🏼 He’s obsessed with copying whatever I’m doing in the house so I know he’ll love it all! he does have Christmas PJs/bauble but he got his bauble when the tree went up and the pjs at the start of December along with DH and I (yes - we have matching 😁🤣) so that he gets more wear out of them.

Book recommendations - mine absolutely loves The Gruffalo, Snail & The Whale, Dear Zoo, 10 Little Dinosaurs, Goodnight Moon, Fingerwiggly Worms, the That’s Not My... range, anything with buttons and noises 😊

My nearly 2 year old is getting a few toys, then stuff she'll use anyway wrapped up (socks, knickers, new toothbrush ect.)

Most of the fun for her is unwrapping, and her birthday is just after Christmas so she will have tonnes of stuff.

I wouldn't do chocolate either.

Caspianberg · 14/12/2021 06:28

For my one year old ( he’s 1 1/2):

Schleich marine animals for bath
Soft soother he sleeps with
Book
Reusable stickers

SquigglePigs · 14/12/2021 06:35

When DD was that age I bought her some bath toys - a pack of about 8-10 little rubber animals, and I tipped them into her stocking so she could pull them out one at a time. She loved it!

noscoobydoodle · 14/12/2021 06:36

My DS is nearer to 2 but he has lanke kade dinosaurs, jingle bell stick, board book, bath book and a little car. He also has chocolate but only a small chocolate Santa which what I am prepared to let him have for Christmas breakfast!

Twizbe · 14/12/2021 06:38

For my children's first Christmas we mostly got them clothes. They didn't know any better and it was things they actually needed rather than just more toys.

I also didn't do chocolate but mostly because DD is allergic to milk so no point

mrsbitaly · 14/12/2021 06:39

I've put 3 things in the sticking filler you can use the others as presents but bubbles are always a hit

EnidFrighten · 14/12/2021 06:47

That's plenty. Don't be surprised if he unwraps one thing then refuses to open any others as he's too interested in the first thing!

BarryBob77 · 14/12/2021 12:35

I have got my goddaughter this instead of chocolate as a stocking filler.

languagelover96 · 14/12/2021 12:40

Puzzles, have a look online etc to see what you can find. And games too. Chocolate coins. Candy canes and sweets plus books. Toys of some kind as well as well as clothes. Sippy cups. A small musical instrument. Crayons and the like. Puppets. Little things really.

Incywinceyspider · 14/12/2021 19:23

My DS was 14 months last year. His stocking contained:
Satauma
chocolate buttons and chocolate coins (A little bit doesn't hurt. I think they lasted til Easter).
Some kiddilicious gingerbread men
Toot toot car
Light up ball
Rain maker
Some bells
Jumbo crayons
A pocket library. I think it was tiny gruffalo books.

NuffSaidSam · 14/12/2021 19:29

Bubbles
Balloons
Football
Hat/scarf/gloves
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Paper and pens/crayons
Small car
Happyland animals/people (or similar)
Small Duplo set
Books
Satsuma

I also wouldn't do chocolate for a one year old.

Temple29 · 14/12/2021 21:03

My 15 month old is getting these in his stocking:

Bath toys (stack & pour buckets from Tesco)
Crayons
Bubbles
Organix gingerbread men
Mini box of cereal (shredded wheat)
Banana

parietal · 14/12/2021 21:27

rubber ducks or similar for the bath. I like the light-up ones because they don't let water inside so they don't get mould inside like the cheap ones do.

emmathedilemma · 14/12/2021 21:35

The “oi frog” serious of books are usually a hit with toddlers.
You could probably wrap a wooden spoon and they’d be happy Grin

mvmvmvmv · 14/12/2021 21:37

Toothbrush and toothpaste are always v popular stocking fillers here - the excitement of getting to use the new toothbrush that Santa bought is unreal!! 🤣 it’s been an annual thing since their 1st stocking

Beekindbeehumble · 14/12/2021 21:55

Mine:
Book

Flannel
Happy land people
Jingle bells
Wooden maraca to shake

samantha121098 · 15/12/2021 15:20

Some little toys! Bear
Some toy retailers have 'pocket money toys' which are ideal for stocking fillers. Xmas Smile

I recommend Fiesta Crafts for nice little traditional pieces that won't break the bank and are perfect for stockings. Their finger puppets are gorgeous! Here's a link: www.fiestacrafts.co.uk/productlist.php?category=39

Etherealhedgehog · 15/12/2021 18:05
