To have Christmas dinner made & delivered this year?

Live abroad and not able to return to the U.K. this year for Xmas. Just Dp, toddler and myself for Christmas Day.
I’ve noticed a lady who makes homemade Christmas dinners and delivers them (frozen and you literally just heat up in the oven)
She’s an older lady, traditional, homely cook and has many customers and great reviews.
She’ll do the whole dinner with sides etc.
I’m very tempted to order from her, but feel I’m being a bit of a sell out not to do it all myself (have cooked Xmas dinners before) hers looks much better than I could do, would possibly work out cheaper than if I bought all the items to cook myself. It’s enough to last for a dinner each the next day too or lots of leftovers she says.
I’d then just buy Xmas eve bits, Christmas breakfast and extras such as cheese & biscuits & chocolates.

Would you do it? Or should I put the effort in and cook? Worried it won’t feel as Christmassy not doing it myself 🤔

Oh absolutely do this!

God why wouldn't you?
Does she export OP? Grin

😂 I’ve just nearly always done a lot myself, it feels a bit weird just taking foil off and putting it in the oven, no effort 😅

We did this last year - it was great!

Go for it! You'll save yourself loads of time which you can spend with your family.

Who really wants to cook on Christmas Day anyway?

HeadPain · 13/12/2021 21:13

If they're good, do it

UnsolicitedDickPic · 13/12/2021 21:58

Can you order a practice one beforehand? For testing purposes?Grin

Bloodybridget · 13/12/2021 22:21

Well of course the risk is that you might never want to cook Christmas lunch yourself again!

That’s the thing, what if we don’t like it 😬she’s doing different things than I’m used to-sweet potato etc.
It’s:

Turkey slices
Roast potatoes
Creamed Sweet potato
Creamed cauliflower (cauliflower cheese I guess?)
Sausages in bacon
Sprouts sautéed with bacon, chestnuts & honey
Roast parsnips
Roast glazed carrots
Christmas red cabbage
Sage & onion stuffing balls
Force meat stuffing (no idea what this is 🙈)
Cranberry sauce
Bread sauce
Gravy

So different to mine and likely much much better 🤣

Do it. We also live overseas and I found a hotel that does turkey takeaway, you collect it hot in a thermal box (sides also available)a I haven’t cooked a turkey for the last 5 years. It’s fab!!!

Do it! We were meant to go out to a restaurant last year but obviously couldn’t (we are in the UK) and they delivered it to us instead
