Help me choose a gin

I want to buy a nice bottle of gin for my friend/beauty therapist for Christmas but I don't drink it. I've seen her drink versions of pink gin and lemonade or sweet tonic, so think something along the sweeter side. I saw some nice looking bottles in Aldi, but I don't want to appear cheap, and I also don't know if they're decent?!

So, gin afficionados - please can you point me in the right direction for a nice bottle to give? Plus a nice mixer too.

Bloom Gin, it's not expensive Tesco sell it but it's a nice bottle, a sort of Tiffany Blue colour label and it's so light and refreshing Smile

@Feckauras

Hendricks gin is my favourite, as you can pair it with different tonics and it isn’t sickly, good with ginger beer too.
Mine too!

My favourite is Aber Falls Marmalade gin, just gorgeous

Love how the OP has told us that her friend likes pink gin and sweeter flavours and loads of posters have ignored her to say, “here is MY favourite gin, I don’t care what your mate likes”.

Yes but a lot of the recommendations are for sweet gins.

Definitely whitley Neil rhubarb

gogohm · 11/12/2021 08:27

They had branded gins in nice bottles for about £20 this week in Lidl

Xmasfairy86 · 11/12/2021 09:02

Whitley Neil rhubarb and ginger is lovely. As is their blood orange one. The raspberry one wasn’t sweet enough for me.
JJ Whitley elderflower is beautiful with lemonade.

@Iamthewombat Hmm had a few gins yourself last night?

You can sweeten any gin with a sweet tonic anyway. Fevertree do some nice tonics.

ImALittlePea · 11/12/2021 16:08

I've gone for Whitley Neal raspberry. I'm sure it'll be very well received ☺️

Old Tom gin is a sweeter style, the Hayman's one is nice.

And lots are not. Hendricks is not a sweet gin and it is not pink. Harris gin is not pink and has an umami/bitter taste. I have tried both. Why recommend those when it’s not what the OP requested? Or did those posters just not bother reading the OP?

Oh, you’re the one who ignored the OP’s question and recommended Hendricks, right?

You should learn to take criticism better.

@PlumManor

Delicious as it is, Schweppes Russchian isn't tonic. Boring fact, it's been around since I was young so well over 30 years and was designed to be paired with Vodka, hence the name.
Well it's still my favourite 😂
