Spending Christmas as a couple - how to make it special

My husband and I will be spending Christmas together, just the two of us. I’m stuck for ideas to make it feel extra special. Plans so far include:
Buffet style food on xmas eve, mulled wine, video call with my family
Xmas day - thinking morning walk, and a slow, relaxed cooking of xmas dinner. No rush to serve early. Video call both families.
Boxing Day - leftovers.
Planning to decorate, wear new pjs, get dressed up on xmas day, watch movies, get a board new board game. But what else can we do to make it feel special? We have a lot of time off over Xmas. Maybe buy a new book each. Have a long luxurious bath. Fancy breakfasts. Really stuck for ideas! I don’t want to go overboard or spend excessively, but I do want it to feel special. Help me out with ideas!

Have you looked at what's on near you over those days? Carols, shows,(don't hate me for this just saying because there's one here) charity walk/run, anything like that? Check out what's going on and you might find something that's worth getting cold and coming back to a fire for aswell. But all the fancy nibbles definitely Grin

Christmas cocktails (gingerbread martinis for us this year).
I’ve got some Yankee votives such as Christmas Eve.
On Boxing Day, we’re driving to the coast (about 40mins away) for a nice long walk and taking a picnic with leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches and slices of Christmas cake.
Also planning a chocolate fondue with Turkish delight, marzipan balls, biscotti, panettone, clementines etc….

Well here it will be nice bunk up, lovely breakfast, booze... we are having a pheasant instead of a Turkey and basically plan to eat and drink like Henry the 8th on steroids til the kids all come back from their respective parents on Boxing Day Grin

DH and I used to do small stockings for each other of silly and fun presents and treats which we opened in bed when we first woke up. Long lazy bath or shower, get dressed up then brunch with bucks' fizz, tree presents, call the family, long walk, Christmas dinner at about 6pm with a film afterwards.

DH and I have been know to daydream of a Christmas for two!

We would spend Christmas Eve morning tidying up, setting the dining table etc then go out for food and drinks with friends late afternoon.

Christmas morning stocking in bed with tea and nookie. Get ready at our leisure, have breakfast and tree gifts then prep dinner and eat later by candlelight.

Boxing Day walk along the beach followed by tea, reading and nibbling leftovers!

We don't have the children this Christmas, so far our plan includes

  • carol service on Christmas Eve
  • lots of nice food
  • long walks
  • a pile.of Christmas books to read and Christmas films to watch
  • an escape room board game

I also have some lovely bath products so planning on some long baths with scented candles
