Where are you from and what does Santa bring?

We live in Scotland and Santa brings everything that arrives on Christmas Day, family/friends who bring gifts before or after are from them. I don’t know another Scottish person who does it differently.

I see often on here that Santa only brings one gift, stocking gifts or few but not everything etc.

I wonder if it’s a cultural thing within the UK (or wider)?

So where are you and what does the big man in the red suit bring?

Nope. Santa brings stocking only. All other presents are from whoever they are from.

Impossible to do differently as all other presents are opened on Christmas Eve European style!

I'm originally from the South East and Father Christmas brought everything.
However now in East Anglia and will be raising future DC with 'Santa bringing the stocking, presents under the tree are from us' (or whoever, family etc.).

Its nothing to do with Santa taking credit... I don't want any 'credit' from my kids but you have got to be aware that giving your kids big, expensive, extravagant or 'must have' gifts 'from' Santa is a unfair
.

Why did Santa bring your kid the 'lol doll super xmas bundle' that cost £150 and was sold out everywhere where as you daughters best who also really wanted it didn't get it 'from' Santa?

Its easy to explain that mam/dad couldn't buy it because it was sold out or too expensive but why didn't Santa 'magic' it if he can bring ANYTHING and EVERYTHING?

Big gifts should not be from Santa, it was never designed to be like that and its very much something that arrived from our generation parents trying to go above and beyond in a keeping up with the Jones competition without thinking of the effects on other people... its pure selfishness.

I have to disagree, it depends on the way you raise your children,
Our DS puts a few things on a list and Father Christmas brings him a selection off it.

He knows other children will have things he doesn't and visa versa.

The child who doesn't get a specific gift will be disappointed whatever the reason, wether it mum a dad can't afford it, it was sold out or Santa chose other things off the list for you.

We teach our DS Father Christmas comes wether you are good or not, you should be good for mum a dad as standard, not for an imaginary person to get toys, so if our DS doesn't get something, it's not because he's naughty, he knows it wasn't chosen off the list. It's good they learn to appreciate what they do get,

Scottish & born in Scotland - he brings one gift and a stocking.

I grew up being told everything but I did not wish to replicate that.

SE England and FC brings the stockings only. If FC brings everything how do you explain to your kids that you haven't bought them anything??

Like @maggiemuff I'm in ni and Santa bring everything from us (parents). Presents from extended family are from them and put under the Christmas tree as and when they arrive. How it is for everyone I know. He does fill our stocking too but usually with chocolate coins, Bath bubbles, new toothbrush, socks (ie stuff we need and would have gotten anyway)
Oh and in our house Santa doesn't have time to wrap his presents. Each child has their own space eg sofa where he puts their presents and magically sorts the presents from family members that were under the tree to the correct sofa too.

East Anglia. Faster Christmas brought everything Christmas Day. The little things in our stockings were from him. Presents under tree were from family but FC delivered them.

I say that fully enjoying hearing everyone else's way, appreciating that everyone is different and we don't think our way is right, it's just our way and certainly no more selfish than any others,

You do just get used to your own traditions I think.

Our present-opening routine when I was a kid was one present picked from under the tree and given to the recipient and they would open it, then the next one. It did take hours Grin and we would have a break usually. But it meant you saw what everyone got and it felt like such an event.

When my mum remarried, the first Christmas we spent with my step-family was totally different. They just all opened all their gifts at the same time, it was chaos, and Mum and I sat there looking at each other in shock Grin But that was just the way they did it.

It's usually just my mum and stepdad and me, DH, DD now as the others have lots of different family commitments, so we have gone back to the one gift at a time routine Grin

North West England, Father Christmas brings everything except stocking fillers.

Suffolk here.

Santa brings one present which goes under the tree. This year it is a colour reveal Barbie, a Lego ferrari and an ambulance. It is something small and never any technology.

I didn't want the big man taking all the credit and I definitely can't hide the amount of Amazon boxes that arrive. My children know the rest of the Christmas presents come from us and that they are in those boxes. They also know where I hide them.
Zero chance of them sneaking a look though because I wrap them up straight away and they go in the back of the cupboard where nobody likes to venture 😂 they would have to take a lot of stuff out to get to them and at 8 & 9, they can't be bothered with that!

We also do it like @Thinkbiglittleone Santa comes regardless and he leaves you a selection of gifts he thinks you might like. Sometimes it will be from your list but certainly not all of it and you can't be greedy. As kids we were always encouraged to put another 3 things on our list to give Santa a choice and "a surprise" was always to be one thing on there.
Santa doesn't bring live animals was always a key rule. We genuinely don't think we ever questioned why someone else got different from us tbh we were taught to appreciate what we had and be thankful for the things we were given.

South England. Father Christmas brings stockings (little things) for morning excitement and then open the family presents after lunch (always late, usually about 5pm)

From south east England. Father Christmas does the stocking of little bits and bobs. The other presents are all from whoever they're actually from. Nothing to do with taking credit, it's just what was always done in my family!

From the south of England, in my house father Christmas bought a stocking full of small goodies. In my. DH's house (also south of England) father Christmas brought everything. We've decided to mirror my family's approach with our kids as we liked the idea of our children knowing their big presents come from us.

Originally from south of england.

Santa brings stocking fillers and some biggish presents to children at dawn.

Main presents under the tree from parents and family. They also appear overnight but not from santa. Opened around 11am to 1pm one by one.

I'm from Wales. Growing up everything came from Santa but with my kids he brings the stocking and one present. He delivers the others but they are from us. I don't know how we ended up doing it like that, ours are still young though and even my eldest who's 7 doesn't talk about it with his friends yet
