Gift for lady in her early 60s

I'd love some ideas on what to buy for a woman in her early 60s. Budget is £100. She prefers staying in since lockdown rather than events or experiences, so maybe something she can use at home. Some info:

-Already has loads of beauty products and knows exactly what she likes
-Has a dog and loves country walks
-Has a tablet she enjoys using
-Likes stuff in National Trust shops
-Enjoys crafts but has tried to declutter her craft supplies this year
-Enjoys reading fiction (especially crime fiction)
-Likes clothes but doesn't treat herself to new clothes often
-Already has all the kitchen gadgets e.g. velvetiser

Any suggestions welcome Smile Especially if you're a similar age and know what you want.

I would like something I could use up - local gin and a selection of tonics; a flower subscription eg bloom & wild; a planter for the garden and some bulbs .

I'd go for those, though Xmas is a bit late for most bulbs. Or the Harris gin, the bottles remind me of the turquoise sea on the Hebridean beaches even after the gin has gone.

Yes sorry I meant (but omitted to write!) ready to plant in the spring. Thinking of buying something like that for a relative.

If you're thinking of a flower subscription Freddies Flowers are much nicer than Bloom and Wild in my opinion (and I have had both)

What's your relationship with her and why such a huge budget.. I am early 60s and I can't think of anything I would want around £100 and would honestly be embarrassed if anyone spent that much on me ... I have everything I want/need.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 04/12/2021 18:35

I don’t think one can assume that other people don’t like generous gifts …

LiterallyKnowsBest · 04/12/2021 18:37

And £100 isn’t a huge gift budget for everyone.

squashyhat · 04/12/2021 18:40

Local independent cinema subscription. Mine does different levels.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/12/2021 18:41

I’m 58.

Anything from Cos or Arket
Tickets to a gig
Books on design
Nothing twee
I would HATE faffy notebooks, shawls, hats. I’m like minimalism.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/12/2021 18:46

Gift subscription for National Theatre At Home (£10 for a month, so you only have £90 to worry about now).
www.ntathome.com/browse

I recommend Warhouse, Angels In America, This House. There are lots of other good ones too.

Purplewithred · 04/12/2021 18:49

Sounds like me, although Lady does feel very very ageing.

I want a tiny amount of something top quality rather than loads of tat.

Consumables like lovely cheeses or stationery.

Massive Amazon voucher.

Really really good quality walking socks.

A very beautiful book of National Trust places, or beautiful gardens.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 04/12/2021 18:51

Ah - I almost suggested that, DisplayPurposesOnly! Only I worried that the recipient may, like me, have had her fill of theatre on screen. (Don’t mind live-streaming at a cinema but on a laptop it’s only a fraction of a full experience.)

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/12/2021 19:08

Agree the bigger the screen the better. Am hoping she can connect her tablet to the TV.

In any case if she's preferring home based entertainment, then this is am excellent option, and she might not know about. Am im only suggesting a tenner, not the whole £100.

And Angels In America is worth the tenner just on its own.

Apols for typos

I am early 60s would love bayliss a bottle of gin favourite perfume funny dvds from 80s or 90s and I have never had a hamper and would love one. Maybe a just eat voucher I love takeaways. Hope this helps op xx

Cutelittlesquizzer · 04/12/2021 19:15

I’m early 60s and wear dungarees, jumpsuits and shop at Cos, Uniqlo and I’d be so disappointed with a shawl or hat. Unless you know someone is really into shawls, scarves, hats it’s a real risk. And wellies have to be comfortable and fit and some are really heavy.

Has she got an audible subscription ? Netflix or Prime? John Lewis voucher ( or does it need to be a tangible gift? )

Oh thanks for that, I've not had Freddie's flowers, will take a look

merrymelody · 04/12/2021 19:30

Cashmere. She sounds like someone who'd appreciate it.

merrymelody · 04/12/2021 19:31

"Lady" is fine, as long as it's not prefixed with "little old" Grin

ScribblingPixie · 04/12/2021 19:35

National Trust throw/blanket? They're classic, handy & good for dog time on the sofa?

Violinist64 · 04/12/2021 19:36

I’m late fifties and second the idea of a kindle. Book tokens are always appreciated too.

BringBackThinEyebrows · 04/12/2021 19:38

Wow, so many fab ideas- thank you!!! Loads of things for me to look into now.

@Ragwort She's a neighbour I've known for years and became a good friend during the lockdown last year when I lost my job and my mental health deteriorated. During that time she spent a lot more than £100 on groceries, flowers, App Store cards, and a John Lewis package for me. She's incredibly thoughtful and generous, not to mention all the time she spent chatting with me and the lovely dog walks. Fortunately I got another job this year and am in a position to get her something.

Also, sorry to those who dislike the term 'lady'. I'm early 30s and get referred to as a 'lady' frequently. I wasn't aware people disliked it.

Wellibobs?

They sell them at joules and they so easy to get on and off. My mum and her friend both have them and think they're great

RedRobyn2021 · 04/12/2021 19:52

National trust pass?

I know it's not an inside thing, but they're usually big old buildings or large outdoor spaces
