Pretty sparkly fairy lights

I have so many happy memories of sitting looking at the tree with soft coloured lights shimmering and twinkling. I also remember walking around town with dd to look at all the pretty lights.
I got some new multi-coloured lights and put them up yesterday. They're much too bright, and have lots of blue - it looks like emergency service lights? Not Christmassy at all
I've seen some people do have soft twinkly LED lights - where did you get them?

To get the old style look you need to have five colours not four. They must include pink. Ideally they should have turquoise instead of dark/bright blue. I've never found turquoise on a string of led lights. You can still buy the traditional Non LED lights if you search online. Although last year even these had bright blue instead of turquoise but much better than they would have been without the pink. I have some copper wire ones with turquoise on but they don't have red so just very pastel. Hope that helps.

I love twinkly lights too, but the setting on ours goes from a nice slow twinkle to a flashing rave extravaganza, it doesn’t stay the same speed. Following for lights that have a nice pretty twinkle 🎄

Aldi had nice Canterbury Bells and Pickwick lights in last week (LED but 5 colours, including pink).

I want someone to do an LED clone of these old Pifco lights, which I remember fondly from my childhood.

Sorry, I don't know how to link but these on Amazon are the ones I bought last year

Here is last years tree. The top has very old lights with turquoise on. The bottom has the new sets with the darker blue. They are not LED though so still have that soft glow

@crystal1717
Thanks - I've got exactly these in warm white! They are better than the coloured ones - in that they are not so bright, and they do twinkle. I might have to make do with these and lots of coloured baubles to reflect them off.

@SittingontheSidelines that's helpful thanks!

We have the smart lights Twinkly. They are fab, you can choose whatever effects you like, twinkle and all. Expensive but so far been worth it we splashed out on another set this year for the kitchen.

These are the Aldi lights. I wish the blue was lighter in colour but they're not bad although no competition for the Pifco lantern lights of yesteryear. They only come as strings of 100 so you probably need multiple sets for a good sized tree.

Lights4fun has some lovely coloured LED lights that have the pink and are bell shaped. Unfortunately sold out now for this year ( they seem to sell out almost immediately!)

I have coloured lights on my kitchen tree and I’ve both the Amazon lights that @SittingontheSidelines linked to which I bought last year plus the Aldi pickwick & Canterbury bells that @evilharpy linked to, bought this year.

I was hoping to blend the two styles together but the Aldi ones are too bright against the traditional ones for my liking. Colours are nice but they have that do have that led glow and don’t look right. So decided not to use them on the tree. I’ll have to find somewhere else to use them.

I absolutely love the older lights with real little light bulbs - but they are so hard to find when they blow - which, despite being tested prior to use, always seems to happen when they've been draped over the tree.

I bought some with a lovely warm glow - not multicoloured though, I know exactly what you mean and also mourn the old pifco lights of yesteryear.

I got these ones from local garden centre - red and vintage gold

Exactly ! i have just the thing ,they were from primark years ago and very cheap. I haven't seen them there since though . The colours are softer and more pastel .
