Hi everyone.
Christmas eve I will be on my own with my girls aged 19, 15 and 7. The older 2 will just join in as and when. I would like to do some fun things with 7yr old. Thought cake making or biscuit decorating.
Am trying to plan an xmas eve box too.
We are out xmas day and then boxing day I am at home with my 2 older 2 while 7yr old goes to her dad's so ideas would be good too.
Thank you!

We like to have a buffet tea Xmas Eve, baked Camembert and fresh bread, mini everything, chocolates and cakes and cocktails/mocktails. Then we watch a Christmas film before I start trying to shuffle them to bed (quite the battle, followed by 'is it morning yet? Can we check?!' Every 10 minutes until they pass out).

Baking, crafts, music, reading, a walk to look at the Christmas lights are all nice things you could do that they could all enjoy.

I like Christmas Eve to be quite relaxed as Christmas Day tends to be full on then Boxing Day is the dc playing with their gifts and leftover sandwiches.

Tracking NORAD Santa, we like to go and sit in a coffee shop with a massive hot chocolate and watch the frantic shoppers, baking, watching a movie, mocktails and popcorn. We have recently started doing a second hand book secret Santa which has worked well with my teens.

Norad Santa tracker, even though we can be all adults. Nothing too intensive work wise for dinner, one year it was gone 11 before we sat down.

If you don’t mind going to church you could look for local Christingle or nativity services in the afternoon. They often encourage children to dress up a bit as angels or shepherds etc which your 7 year old might like and she’d probably also like the Christingle element.

Bake, decorate and build a family gingerbread house.

Baking in the afternoon sounds great. I would find a church service and sing some carols, go and look at lights if there's good ones near you, takeaway or party food.

Ask them what they'd enjoy if you haven't already! Families/ people different.

Mine that age would say painting boardgame. And yes baking.

Decorate a Gingerbread house.

I always made chocolate reindeer ( mould from Lakeland) not sure if they do it any more
Rocky road xmas pudding

If you want to go full Christmas mode you could stick some Christmas music on and do a gingerbread house. Other options could be mince pies, Christmas cookies etc.

If you're more laid back about the Christmas thing you could always just relax and do nails, watch a film, go for a walk to look at Christmas lights.

Make snowflakes out of paper doilies. Then when the 7yo has gone to bed, pin them on cotton from the ceiling, so it's all even more christmassy when she comes down on Christmas morning

StCharlotte · 01/12/2021 23:18

Bake mince pies and/or sausage rolls with the Amazon Christmas playlist in the background.
