Gifts for a homely 25yo couple?

Any suggestions for a joint gift (no Christmas tat please) for a 25yo couple (living together) who don't really have any interests apart from watching TV, playing video games and eating takeaways? My budget is £30ish in total for both. Food can be tricky because one of them is celiac, and they don't really drink booze at home. Considered a Deliveroo/JE voucher but they don't actually deliver to their area!

I'd look at something like a funny pair of cushions or a fleece blanket with their fave video game on it...like if they enjoyed Call of Duty I'd order something with that on it. Can you find out their fave games?

DriftingBlue · 01/12/2021 03:44

Get them a strategy board game that works well for 2 players. I recommend Azul.

LED tv backlights
A throw for the sofa
A controller/headset charging station
CEX/Game voucher
Movie night hamper with popcorn & sweets
An air fryer
Fake Oodies (I’ve seen them as low as £15)

Escape room
Afternoon tea somewhere
Books
A new camera
A box of chocolates
Puzzle books
Take out of some kind
Concert tickets etc
Flowers
A new guitar
Hot air balloon ride

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 01/12/2021 10:51

Agree with board game suggestion. Dh and I love playing Pandemic

DiamondBright · 01/12/2021 10:58

Some interesting snacks suitable for a coeliac would be a really thoughtful gift, maybe with a nice tray and mugs.

violetskiss · 02/12/2021 10:45

if they like having a nice home, a John Lewis voucher is always so lovely. My DH and I loved getting those when we were a bit younger because we could buy really NICE things like good quality towels or bedding which we couldn't always afford to buy ourselves.

(I still do love John Lewis vouchers!)

littlepieces · 02/12/2021 12:00

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm also very entertained by the fact there's always someone suggesting a hot air balloon ride on every gift suggestion post on MN!
I think John Lewis is a bit upmarket for their tastes - they're quite young/immature 25yos (and doubt they'd get much for 30 quid).

And I mean 'immature' in the nicest way possible... Maybe it wasn't the right word, I just mean they're basically adult teenagers!

A gift voucher for somewhere like GAME? One of those oversized hoodie/dressing gown things for each of them. An aromatherapy diffuser with some nice oils to go with it? I also think the board game suggestion is a good one.

ODFOgrinch · 02/12/2021 13:04

Dunelm voucher
Popcorn maker
Remote control caddy
Iceland voucher: they sell lots of takeaway type food so they wouldn't even have to go and collect!

DartmoorChef · 02/12/2021 13:05

Soda stream

reluctantbrit · 02/12/2021 13:06

Vouchers from Cook?
Boardgame? DH and I like playing Settlers of Catan as the card game is specifically designed for 2 people.
Oodie-type hoodie

Innocenta · 02/12/2021 13:08

Urban Outfitters voucher. They have a massive hone department and the couple can pick something fun!

HollowTalk · 02/12/2021 13:10

An electric throw?

ikeepseeingit · 02/12/2021 13:15

I'm 24 OP, my partner likes to game and I enjoy crafting and youtube so I think we're a pretty similar couple to the one you're buying for. Love the suggestion of a board game! We're always looking for things to do together and we don't have much spare cash so getting us a fun board game that can be for 2+ people over and would be good.

I suspect they would also enjoy a cinema voucher, there's spiderman, ghostbusters and the new matrix film out this month I think.

littlepieces · 02/12/2021 13:39

I forgot to say a board game is a grest idea, they are into board games and card games too, and thanks @ikeepseeingit. Any suggestions for particular games? Someone suggested Pandemic which I think sounds great BUT one of the recipients has lost relatives to Covid this year so not really appropriate... possibly Catan or one of the expansion packs, but need to check whether they already have it.

Doesn’t homely mean ugly?
www.dictionary.com/browse/homely

Maybe don’t use that word on their card….

Twinstudy · 02/12/2021 13:43

For board games we like suburbia and carcasonne. Both good for two players. Also village and Agricola.

pregnant202 · 02/12/2021 14:36

www.etsy.com/uk/shop/StrictlyPersonalUK a gluten free bread bin or cake tin?

Innocenta · 02/12/2021 14:44

Azul for the game!

DriftingBlue · 02/12/2021 14:49

You didn’t have to tell us they liked board games. Some of us just recognized kindred souls. I promise they aren’t teenagers, they are just, different. DH and I are in our late 40s now with good jobs, a house, cars, child and all the trappings of adulthood that you could imagine, but I know people still look at us and think we are odd. Maybe its the arcade machines in the recreation room? Maybe its that I still don’t know how to decorate, but am too shy to hire a decorator?

Anyway, on to board games.
I already mentioned it, but I love AZUL
Ticket to Ride
It’s marketed for kids, but it’s surprisingly fun, Robot Turtles.

Exploding Kittens
The card game version of Oregon Trail.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 03/12/2021 09:26

We are quite alot older then 25 😂 but are also a homely couple and were at that age too.

Do they read? We still love getting book tokens and taking a trip into the city to buy new books then curl up reading them!

We also like board games. House of plants is lovely. And I've heard good things about Azul already mentioned.

What about some lovely cushions / throws / candles.

Something to go with their takeaways eg a sauce collection maybe? One year we got given a sort of curry hamper and loved creating new curries instead of a takeaway

Jossbow · 03/12/2021 09:45

If you want to buy a 'value for money' gift voucher, Wilkinsons is quite a useful choice-
