Nope I didn't either. I can't afford to buy any more than tat, so I guess they will be better off with a heartfelt thanks.

DS is in year 2 and we haven't ever bought any Xmas pressies for his teachers. We did buy Yr1 teacher a pressie in the summer as a thankyou for the year. I always feel that we don't really know the teachers that well after only 3 months ??

there's a class pressie being organized for one of the teachers - a good idea as saves her from lots of flowers & chocs.

My friend is a teacher and she is always really touched when she gets little gifts at christmas - she doesn't expect them and doesn't get that many but really feels appreciated and happy when she does

Krimble · 16/12/2007 21:47

I don't normally but DD often wants to get a little thing for her teacher so I would if she asks.

my sil has soo many presents from her class at christmas. I'm sure I get some of her rejects every year! not that I'm complaining.

I've bought the school nice handwash & hand cream to go in their loo (all female staff) I haven't ever bought before! I do wonder if teachers actually notice who doesn't buy them gifts and what they think.

pinetreedog · 16/12/2007 22:01

no, you're not. It's n ot obligatory. I onyl do it if dds pester and if there's time I tell 'em to make a card

Heated · 16/12/2007 22:14

Teachers are always touched if you remember them but it certainly isn't expected or necessary.

What I do remember are cards with a message of thanks or some reference to what we've done that term.

I'm having enough trouble getting DS to realise he needs to choose presents for immediate family.
