My 9 yr Old has asked for money to go on a spending spree as her main gift so am planning on £50, does anyone have any fun/good ideas of presenting it?
I was wondering about getting it in £5 notes or something like that.

I saw a good idea with an empty candy cane (one that had sweets in) it fit one pound coins

I've been thinking the same for one of my DS so will look forward to seeing what suggestions come up. I've bought one of those money puzzles off amazon so was thinking of putting cash in that and then inside a safe I bought from the works and maybe giving clues to the combination for the safe. The other thing I considered was chocolate coins x however many pounds you want to give and say you'll exchange for real money

What about a nice bag and purse and put it in there?

My dad every year used to put it in something random to make us think it wasnt money, a toilet roll tube, a huge box, a CD case, a bauble on the tree, now he puts it rolled up in a small gift bag with little chocolates and a couple of scratch cards

You could put £5 in 10 balloons then hid them around the house. Maybe one with presents with a note saying find the rest? So laundry basket, bottom of a wardrobe, in the bath, under a coat would make finding them take longer.

Pound coins used to fit perfectly into a Smarties tube.

Would a 9 year old want to go on a spending spree with 50 pound coins though?

I got my son a small gift box and scotch taped the notes together so when he opened it can me put as one long ribbon

I’ve seen money roses on Pinterest that could be fun

If you hide it, keep a list of your hiding places!

Ds1 (16) is getting a pile of individually wrapped socks, boxers, and chocolate bars, each with a fiver included.

At least now the money is plastic it won’t get torn with the wrapping paper

Good point. At that age, being given a £20 note is a bit special in its own right.

Stick it in a balloon? Or in a balloon inside another inside another so she can't see what's inside and has to pop a series of balloons?

My mum once took a Christmas cracker apart and put money in it for me 🙂 she made sure I got the right one obviously

minipie · 29/11/2021 08:25

Put it in some kind of money box/mini safe ? And maybe if there is a passcode you can create a puzzle or treasure hunt for her to work out the code.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 29/11/2021 09:17

I'd do a treasure hunt, 4 x £5, 1 x 10 leading up to a £20. So that's only 6 clues.
