Christmas presents for busy mum

I have a good friend I'd like to buy a nice gift for but struggling. She's a busy working mum who lives for her kids and she doesn't have any hobbies of her own. Spends most free time escorting kids to sports.

Anyone else like this out there? What would you like to receive?

Thanks

budget?

PanicBuyingSprouts · 28/11/2021 06:58

If she spends a lot of time going to sport a decent insulated mug is always useful if she likes hot drinks.

IamChipmunk · 28/11/2021 07:14

Something nice for her? A lovely candle, Neom or White company are reliable choices.
Or some nice chocs and prosecco...
I would love either of these!

maofteens · 28/11/2021 07:18

Beauty treatment voucher. And make sure she uses it!

Nc574mn · 28/11/2021 07:19

Really warm gloves

Driposaurus · 28/11/2021 07:27

Not a beauty treatment voucher. I am the description of your friend, a bit, and genuinely wouldn’t want to spend a tiny bit of free time to myself (assuming I could get it) having something done to me someone else had decided I need… and I really wouldn’t want to be bullied into “making sure I use it”… it would be just one more task.

Having said that there’s very little I want/need (I don’t want stuff I need to find space for, or experiences I need to have time for). What about the the turtle doves cashmere fingerless gloves? They look beautiful and practical.

canichange · 28/11/2021 07:37

A really nice diary? I'm a bit like your friend and can't live without one.

quitecontrary123 · 28/11/2021 07:41

Totally agree with Driposaurus. Inwould go with some nice warm gloves, socks, hat, scarf, thermos flask, vouchers for Costa, mini hamper if you are looking at a bigger budget.

For a diary have a look at the Box clever ones they are gorgeous and plenty of room to write & plan.
Nice hand cream.

Driposaurus · 28/11/2021 07:53

Actually thinking about this: the one thing I don’t have is time. I have no family who could look after my children, ever (if you know, you know). If someone said to me for a Christmas present “can I take the kids from you for an afternoon” or “here’s a babysitting voucher to be redeemed at any point in the next year” I would be so immensely grateful. I never have time - evening or daytime - to myself and that would be a joy, even if it was just to get on and do the jobs that are harder to do without the kids there.

PurplePikachu · 28/11/2021 07:55

Nice folding chair so she can sit down while in a cold field watching kids play football? Or a good insulated mug (contigo mugs are good). Warm gloves with the touchscreen fingers so she can still use her phone.

ChirpyChirp · 28/11/2021 07:56

Touch screen gloves
Reusable hand warmers
Insulated mug
Infinity scarf

I came on to say this. I used to read loads but obviously don’t have the time now. I listen to audiobooks in the car while ferrying the kids about and on headphones at night while up feeding/cuddling the baby.

This sounds a bit crap but, as a similar parent, I'd really appreciate an Amazon voucher because I end up ordering half my stuff from there when I don't have time to get to a shop for last minute school crap.

I would also like tea, biscuits and a travel mug. I second that I would have no interest in beauty treatments, candles, diaries, bath stuff etc. But that's just me.

00100001 · 28/11/2021 08:00

Yeah. Stuff to make hanging around/journeys more interesting.

Audible is a good shout if she likes audio books.

You can get heated USB rechargeable gloves, they're amazing!

Fallagain · 28/11/2021 08:32

I’m similar but I have young kids. Posh shower gel is my go to pick me up.

ShabsLovesTiff · 28/11/2021 08:40

What is your budget? And you in £ or $ America uk etc..

Something she can do to destress some downtime. Treat her to a hairdressing voucher/ massage nails etc depending what she likes someone to take the kids out of her hair even just for a few hours to relax and treat and pamper herself a clothing voucher for new outfit offer to babysit kids and let her go out for
Drinks in new outfit hair do whatever…

ShabsLovesTiff · 28/11/2021 08:41

Oh and if she didn’t wanna go out anywhere still offer to babysit and a nice takeaway Netflix chill pamper bath
