We'll bake biscuits a bit nearer to Christmas, else there'll be none left! Last year we made some tree decorations, year before that some cards. Not feeling very inspired yet, something to do on a wet weekend that could pass as a gift for the grandparents. What are you planning to get the DC to make?

We usually go to a pottery cafe to paint some bits / hand prints when they were small

Salt dough decorations, easy peasy

We always make christmas cards for family and teachers. Normally make a decoration for the christmas tree. This year the kids have been making gift boxes from 12x12 card.

We make cookies, peppermint creams and a gingerbread house.

My DC’s grandparents are getting Jam jar lanterns this year.

We made salt dough decorations on Friday. Will make gingerbread men one weekend.

Following with interest as I'm lacking ideas this year! My DC started their card making yesterday and we are having a go at mini plant pot decorations: www.hellowonderful.co/post/diy-clay-pot-christmas-bell-ornament/
My oldest DD (8) is making some christmas bookmarks and middle DD (6) will bake something but not sure what yet.
I like the gift box suggestion thank you.

DD & I ate doing embroidered napkins. I doubt they will be traditional motifs.

I got a paint your own baubles set from lidl - 4 glass white baubles, acrylic paint and brushes and glitter glue. We've done one so far and it looks great.

We usually go to the pottery centre and paint ornaments or do handprints on things, but we've done that 4 years in a row now so fancy something a bit different.

I was going to look to baker Ross and get some Christmas sewing kits, these are good for 4-6 year old I would estimate. I also get myself a proper cross stitch and paint by numbers set from hobbycraft to do in the evenings.

Finally, baking wise I like to make chocolate orange fudge and we have cutters for a gingerbread house

My 16 year old daughter and I are going to a wreath making workshop. Her old school used to do one and she sometimes came but Covid stopped it last year, so it will be fun to do it in our new neighbourhood.

None Blush they did the messy stuff at nursery! Although I did enjoy baking fairy cakes with them.

Felldownabackdonhole · 28/11/2021 07:37

We are doing Christmas biscuits. I think at 3 they may be a bit too little to make a gingerbread house but we can give it a go (I will probably end up doing it myself).

We might make Christmas cards too.

Camomila · 28/11/2021 07:45

I am going to be making paper Christmas wreaths with the DC - circles of green card and cutting out bits of last years cards and sticking them on.

Baking nearer the time. Might take the DC to buy a special cookie cutter each as an easy outing.

We've done saltdough (white clay because it's finer) loads of times now, also sewing and those plastic iron flat beads. We decorated baubles, but that was a while ago so we could do that.

It's not particularly crafty, but we've got some fillable baubles from Hobbycraft with some fake snow and ornaments to make for themselves and also for them to make for grandparents.

Also just for fun, lots of cards and picture ideas with cut out circles to decorate and twine for baubles, Christmas trees and other designs made out of buttons etc.

Also have a couple of sets from Hobbycraft, a mosaic one and paint your own Christmas tealight holder one.
