How many Christmas trees is too much!

Up until last year only had the one big tree - artificial one we've had for several years. It was quite expensive and glad it's lasted us so long. Would love a real main tree - one day!!

But last year I bought two cheap small trees for DC's rooms, then another smallish pre lit one for our room. It was such a poop year i just went a bit mad.

Today I bought a small real tree at the garden centre just because I wanted one for my kitchen 😅

I would really love a fibre optic one! It reminds me of childhood Christmasses with my grandparents. They had these two fibre optic Christmas trees and I loved them.

Too much? I don't have much decoration otherwise. A few things on the shelf, a couple light up things for the kids and some candles. Not a huge amount!

Am I mad? About the trees?

Do what makes you happy. There’s no right or wrong answer to this question! Merry Christmas!

ThirdElephant · 27/11/2021 19:03

Depends how big your house is. If you can't move for trees scale it back a bit. Otherwise, it's entirely up to you. If you like it, go with it.

(No doubt someone will be along shortly to say that it's terribly working class to have more than one, let alone an artificial one and it had better not be up before Christmas Eve, but 🤷)

Cacee3029 · 27/11/2021 19:05

House isn't big but not small either. Generally I'm a minimalist but trees seem my thing at the minute 😅 j don't have too much Christmas decor otherwise. I just love lit up trees. The real tree I bought today will probably get out on front step once the wind has gone!

If you can't fit any humans in the house, maybe scale back a little.

chickenfeathers · 27/11/2021 19:07

Imho you can never have too many Christmas trees!

We have a 6ft real one in the lounge, two smaller ones each window, and another on a small table. We have one in the kitchen, and my three DC each have one in their bedrooms!

If it makes you happy go for it! 🎄😁

Carrotte · 27/11/2021 19:07

27

Helpstopthepain · 27/11/2021 19:07

We have one (a real one), I love Christmas trees but couldn’t be doing with one in every room. It’s a bit much….But I’m not you and it’s not my house!

InFiveMins · 27/11/2021 19:13

I'm jealous OP - I really want a fibre optic tree this year! I say go for it, if it makes you happy why not?!

CoolShoeshine · 27/11/2021 19:18

It depends on how many you can be bothered to put up - and how many you can store away afterwards. I love them but personally haven’t got the energy to decorate upstairs and can’t have one in my hallway due to lack of sockets. So that just leaves the kitchen-diner and living room. Two trees is more than enough for me to decorate and I can concentrate on making them fabulous!

Lostmyheart101 · 27/11/2021 19:20

If it makes you smile, that’s all that matters.

Fill your boots op!

AdoraBell · 27/11/2021 19:21

Only 1 here, more would give me the heebie jeebies, but you can have as many 🎄 that you want.

caringcarer · 27/11/2021 19:27

My son bought his own house this year. He took very energetic Bengal cat. He told me he is upset because he has a wonderful bay window and he would like a huge real as tree to put all of the wonderful hand blown glass baubles his Godmother bought him every Xmas. He could have one as high ceilings. Only I had to remind him his cat climbs Xmas trees and pulls off baubles. We for many years have put ours up in conservatory behind glass so we can see it without it being pulled over and baubles smashed.

kittenkipper · 27/11/2021 21:23

I mean, walking through a lit magical
Forest of Christmas trees in my hallway into a dining room the table heaving with Christmas food and yet more trees sounds like Narnia and more for me!

However I stop at 5. 3 big ones (kitchen living room and hall- two fake one real) and two small (in the children's bedrooms- they get a bauble "advent" calendar beneath and dress their trees day by day through dec)

Stompythedinosaur · 27/11/2021 22:34

I'll let you know when I get there! I've ordered 2 new outdoor trees this year which takes us up to 7, and I think we could probably have a small one in the bathroom too.

Crumblinginside · 27/11/2021 22:37

We've one main tree (will put up next week)
I also bought a five foot in the sale for dcs room

I've two small fake trees but I will bring these into school (teacher)

PeachesPumpkin · 27/11/2021 22:38

One more than you want.

Badtasteflump · 27/11/2021 22:44

We had five 'big' ones last year, one in the sitting room, dining room and each of the DCs bedrooms. If you count the little ones (potted real ones, only about 2ft high) in the front and rear hallways, we had seven. I also put up so many fairy lights I didn't need to use any 'normal' house lights... Might sound slightly bonkers but it looked amazing and we love it! Your house, your rules 🙂

JumperandJacket · 27/11/2021 22:48

Up to you. We only ever have one as I see it as being a sole focus. Lots of other decorations though. Other people like multiple trees. No right or wrong.

HalloHello · 27/11/2021 23:12

If you can afford to buy 6 artificial trees, then you can afford a nice real tree. I recommend Nordmann fir for least needle drop. Ours last year cost £65 for an 8 foot. It was a beaut.

Thank you. I haven't had to buy 6 artificial trees in one go though... My current main tree wasn't cheap but on our 6th or 7th Christmas with it so got plenty of use out of it. The little trees dc have in their room were inexpensive.. My little pre lit one was around £30 from Argos last year.

I looked at real trees yesterday at the garden centre but they were really expensive there.

I watched a doc about people who go mad at Christmas and one woman had Christmas trees in every room of her house, plus smaller ones dotted about, so I think the answer is have whatever makes you happy!

SushiGo · 28/11/2021 07:09

2, but now I am wondering how many more I can fit in...

maofteens · 28/11/2021 07:22

Never too much!
We used to have one really big one in the living room bay window and a smaller more colour coordinated one in the extension off the kitchen, and a small tabletop tree in the middle of the kitchen island.
This year in our new house, half the size of the old, it will be in the dining area of the open plan kitchen/diner, which you can also see from the living room. I'd love one in the living room too but a few too many boxes still around!
