I need gift ideas for my nieces ages 17-20

Ideas are

Make up (but I have done this a lot)
Nice notebooks / stationary
Cosy blanket, slippers (not sure of shoe sizes !)
Edible gifts like nice sweets or chocolate
Skincare

Any ideas of specific items please?

As the youngest will be 18 next year this might be the last year I buy them individual gifts

I only get my older (adult) nieces and nephews a card and chocolates

Maybe a book but I don't think they read

Budget is about £20 each for them as I will also be giving gifts to them as a family - food hamper etc - since they live with their parents

Three to buy for

There are lots of burts bees gift sets on amazon at moment. There is a nice travel set. Or soap and and glory sets in boots.
You could check shoe size for slippers - I love bedroom athletics slipper boots (the marilyn ones). Lovely and cosy for about £25. Depends what your budget is really.

Wandamakesporridge · 27/11/2021 10:48

To be honest for that age group I would ask parents for ideas, or give a gift voucher!

Topbird29 · 27/11/2021 10:48

Or primark oodies . Look / ask on the christmas bargains threads- loads of suggestions for all ages on there.

Peopleoverstuff · 27/11/2021 10:55

Notebooks and planners with lots of options for to do lists and journalling etc go.down well with that age group. But agree vouchers always welcome!

luverlybubberly · 27/11/2021 10:58

I have bought some cosy socks/boots and the size is more general so "up to size 7" sort of thing rather than an exact "size 7"

I have a dd in that age group and she'd like

  • cosy stuff (you can get fake oodies for under £20 eg Primark )
  • new hairbrush set . She has brushes but good to have spares
  • makeup and fragrance is too hard for me to guess so I steer away from this. Only exception is nail varnish if you know their taste eg bold vs glittery vs natural
  • snacks and sweets. She's really into ones from Japan so I'd go to an oriental supermarket to have a look
  • hand creams. She's a barista so gets dry hands from the steam
  • a voucher for their local shopping centre. I'm buying this for some late teens and my teen says that's a good idea as they can choose what they like
Yogaandcocoa · 27/11/2021 11:54

I'm good with make up but wouldnt guess fragrance

Hand cream is a good idea

Not going down the cash / voucher route as I like to buy them something

Snacks would work but don't know what

They've had loads of Soap & Glory stuff
Have done Lush too

Will look at the burst bees

Also consider an advent calendar

Like the idea of slippers

My girls are in that age group, some things on their lists are:

Shower speaker
Beach Towel (summer here)
Jewellery Tree (Amazon)
Lush bath bomb
Lip Glosses
Diary
Coffee starter kit (Emma Chamberlain)

Yogaandcocoa · 27/11/2021 17:36

Thank you @Theoldwoman

My DDs are 17 & 18.

I've just bought them the chunky initial necklace each from Hoops & Chains. They're gold coloured, but are stainless steel so virtually indestructible and can be worn in the shower, swimming and will never tarnish.

Or a sports bra/leggings from Gym Shark. These are hugely popular among our DDs and their friends. Excellent quality and the leggings don't go thin.

penguinwithasuitcase · 27/11/2021 18:48

I got my 20-year old cousin:

this book

these earrings

and these chocolates

MistandMud · 27/11/2021 19:36

I'm getting cocktail making starter kits for mine, but 17 might be on the edge for that.

@Yogaandcocoa

Thank you

I love the book and earrings @penguinwithasuitcase

I'm glad.

I know you said you weren't sure if they read, but that's partly why I went for a book of essays –they can dip in and out that way, and the essays in this book are very much about real life as a young woman. Something directly relatable might be more appealing than fiction, perhaps?

Yogaandcocoa · 28/11/2021 05:20

@penguinwithasuitcase yes something like that is different to getting them a novel
