I'm usually a Christmas lover... and I am looking forward to Christmas it self but I'm really struggling with gift buying this year.

We have a lot of people to buy for and I just can't seem to decide what to get anyone! I don't have loads of time to just wander aimlessly around the shops.
I usually enjoy gift buying but it all just seems such a waste!!
We are mostly adults, we buy what we want when we want to do just buying for buying sakes.

So anyway can anyone think of a generic gift we can just buy people. I remember one year my Aunt bought everyone an Alexa, so something like that? I was thinking of an Apple air tag as bough DH one for his birthday as he is forever losing his wallet!
But not everyone is as disorganised as my DH!

Any ideas? At all, it's mostly couples so anything that could be a "couples" gift?

@GoodnightGrandma

Because other people might have already bought for them.
So? That's their problem. Gift giving isn't meant to be an expectation of receiving something because you gave them something.

I'd also steer clear of wine. Again, not everybody drinks.

If you know someone well enough to exchange presents, surely you know whether they drink??

Obviously a non-starter if they don't drink but if they do, I'd go for more expensive versions of what they like to drink,whether that's wine or eg Grey Goose if they drink vodka or if they like gin, maybe a local gin if it exists (lots where I live) or have a look at the vast array of gin in any supermarket. Add in some luxury nibbles if there is budget left over.

Otherwise a Christmas indoor plant arrangement delivered a week or so before Christmas so they can enjoy it, or a pot for the garden with some bulbs to plant in the spring .

@loveablequalities

Consumables. Lovely coffee, olive oil, chocolate, biscuits, cheese, preserves etc. Go quality over quantity. Go local over mainstream. No one wants random STUFF from Primark or wherever. Or vouchers. If you don't enjoy picking specific things then don't do it.
I agree with this very much.

Don’t just buy random tat. If you are going to buy then good quality consumables is the way to go.

Vouchers for a local restaurant you know they like? Or a auK wide meal at home experience voucher like Home by Nico?

mangomama91 · 27/11/2021 09:53

We've decided on vouchers this year. Not the most exciting but at least you're not filling someone's home with something they might not want/need.
Maybe a voucher for restaurant/cinema or one of the one for all vouchers

PestoPlum · 27/11/2021 09:56

Go on somewhere like red letter days and buy them a restaurant voucher (lots of money off deals floating around at the moment).
They get to have a nice meal out and are not receiving tat they don't want that'll end up in landfill. You also get it done and dusted in one go, bonus.
