Are you doing any Xmas baking for family and friends, either as gifts or just generally?

I'm going to attempt fudge for the first time to give as gifts, and looking for other ideas...

I'm surrounded by Christmas cookbooks and binging on Christmas cookery TV shows. It's very comforting!
I made Mary Berry's mincemeat today and will do a first batch of mince pies tomorrow. I'd love to try nut brittle, but last time I tried it never set.
I'll be doing Delia's gingerbread and cake and lots of other things.
If you like cooking in general, come and join us on the Readalong Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles thread!

Fudge is easy if you use Martha Stewart's one with marshmallow - you don't taste them but it makes it so moist (this is not the crumbly type fudge). We used to make a big batch and put them in cellophane bags with pretty ribbon. Ad nuts if you know the recipients are allergy free.

I'm December I always make Speculoos, mince pies, cinnamon rolls, Christmas cupcakes and homemade sausage rolls.

I’ve made mini Christmas cakes that I give as gifts, I use the small bean tin as a cake tin.
I also make Santa cookie dough (aka cranberry & white chocolate.) I give a log of dough to friend & family they just need to slice & bake on Christmas Eve, so everyone can enjoy freshly baked cookies.
I’ve made my own suet free mincemeat and will use it to make mince pies in the run upto Christmas.

Speculoos, mince pies.

I also would like to make a gingerbread house with the children but this is something we say every year and have never actually done it. Maybe this will be the year!

I’m gutted, went to google expecting some Italian festive treat 🤣

So far I have made three Christmas cakes.

Will make fudge and chocolate dipped honeycomb for DH’s birthday this weekend.

Other December essentials include peppermint bark, reindeer iced gingerbread hearts and my personal favourite snickerdoodle cookies for Santa.

I want to make a big variety box of different cookies as a gift but no one to give them to who will eat them! Maybe I will just take them to my parents’ for Xmas as a contribution.

I should have made a mini Xmas cake gift by now, whoops.

Yule log, classic

Might do a gingerbread house for the kids but seems such a waste.

A couple of years ago I made a huge box of chocolates from scratch, filled with curds and pralines and caramels etc, and a box of marzipan fruits, which weresooo fun and very well received.

When I worked in a deli we made and sold chocolate salami (essentially tiffin) which was always a hit.

Might make some macarons as a gift for my sister maybe.

TuftyMarmoset · 26/11/2021 11:27

Zimtsterne and mince pies as usual, and I’m thinking of attempting stollen, Lebkuchen and florentines this year. I already know the florentines will be a mess Grin

Mypathtriedtokillme · 26/11/2021 11:40

Meringues, coconut ice, hokey pokey and Russian fudge, pizzelle (vanilla ones because dh hates aniseed), sour cherry chocolate biscuits, almond bread, amaretti and chocolate crackles for santa and on Xmas Eve will make a pavlova for Xmas lunch,
