Really struggling to buy for my eldest…he doesn’t know what he wants. I’ve got a list of stuff he doesn’t want … but not what he does. He has no interests other than playing Xbox Blush

Things he doesn’t want / need:

No clothes ( got some last month)
No room decor ( hates change!)
No new tech ( has lots)
No sports stuff (hates sport)

Currently I’m thinking I’ll pay for a batch of 10 driving lessons (£350) but it doesn’t feel like much of a gift :/

All ideas - stocking and up are welcome!

I’ve got a new towel ( he steals mine), a new Bluetooth speaker and a cookie pan set he said Looked good.

Table tennis set

Projector (I know you said no tech but just putting it out there in case)

Endoscope camera

Cheese subscription

Hotel chocolat subscription

Long charging cables

M&S cake jars

Smart putty in a tin

Also ...

Elite Xbox controller

Xim apex (don't ask me! I just bought it as requested!)

My son is 17 and also has ASD.
Driving lessons sound like a great idea to me. I got mine an on line driving course last year, came with a book so you could learn the theory, do mock tests on line.

Now I tend to buy gift cards - for the cinema, Greggs so he can buy lunches if he is out. He will have vouchers for go karting and Bear Grylls world. I've got a stand for his head phones because I'm sick of finding them on the floor.
We are both sports fans so as joint presents we have tickets for the National Basketball champs in January and the Indoor Athletics in February

He had a panni/waffle maker one year which went down well. Last year he had an Oodie which he loves.

I have a 19 year old with ASD who was only into pc gaming for years (although has now developed an interest in anime). It’s so difficult when they are into things that are specialist. It’s hard to come up with ideas they aren’t expecting. I also have two neurotypical dcs who are ridiculously easy to buy for and every year I agonise over trying to make things equal. He has a real sweet tooth so I tend to end up with far more sweets in his stocking than I would ordinarily like.

Stocking filler ideas which have been winners:

Giant candy cane or several small ones in multiple flavours
Tic tacs - several flavours
Selection of American Sweets (there’s a specialist online store for this)
Christmas Jelly Belly jelly beans
Novelty or high capacity USB stick
Glass bottle of Cola or his favourite drink
X box gift card
Shower gel
Face wash
Jar of favourite sweets (my ds hates chocolate and is gluten free, which makes things more difficult)
If he likes the cookie pan idea, what about a microwave mug cake mug?(you can also get small books of mug cake recipes)
Hot chocolate bombe or spoon (I’ve done this for my other dc and added a little bag of marshmallows to top them with.)
Money saver keyring on a lanyard (lanyard based on favourite game) so he always has cash with him if he is ever stuck or loses his phone/wallet
Gaming headset stand thing that clips onto his desk (couple of quid off Amazon)
Money maze puzzle (puzzle you have to solve to get the cash/gift card out of the middle)
Rubiks cube

Present ideas:

Latest X box controller
Tshirt with logo or artwork from his favourite game (Redbubble or Teepublic if can’t get from mainstream sources)
Electric wet and dry shaver plus nice shaving gel
Book related to his favourite game (Games like Halo, Fall Out and Overwatch have some really good books with the artwork/history, schematics etc in or you can get graphic novels of many games if he is likely to read those.)
Decent shower speaker (cheaper ones just die after a couple of months)
Addictaball or Perplexus puzzle/maze ball

Oh yes, as pp said a Cineword voucher went down well with my ds as well.

Hohofortherobbers · 24/11/2021 19:41

Driving lessons are an excellent present

LumpySpacedPrincess · 24/11/2021 20:02

We gave dd a budget months ago and she buys things and we put them away. They will still be wrapped and under the tree but they will be things she wants. She has bought some dolls, special interest. Lots of crystals and many obscure internetty merchy things. I put together a sack of Father Christmas presents that is equally loved and predictable.

Hermanfromguesswho · 24/11/2021 20:13

I have one a similar age. He’s getting some of his special interest things…50ps snd bakugan.
Driving lessons, trainers (he won’t be fussed about these but he needs some and I’m trying to get him more interested in what he wears!), sweets, mug cakes, a panini maker (he is a big sandwich fan!!), books, a cuddly toy (he collects a certain kind), a funny mug…

Imkindreally · 24/11/2021 21:52

These are fab ideas and some I think could def be winners! ESP the panini maker I would never have thought of that

Re-usable ice rocks , might be my best find this year .
They keep drinks cool , without going watery at the bottom.

Disclaimer: not used them yet..

bizzey · 24/11/2021 22:47

Should say..they are "ice cubes" you use , rinse and pop back in the freezer .
