I’m wanting to buy a really special box of chocolates for the lady next door as she’s always so lovely and kind to DD
Any suggestions please

In-laws loved fortnum and Masson last year.

Candleabra · 23/11/2021 19:52

I love hotel chocolat - I’d be thrilled with a nice box as a present

These are the absolute best I have ever had. Handmade and taste even better than they look

Not sure if that link works

This is their etsy link.

Brodie's Scottish berry chocolates are wonderful

Pbbananabagel · 23/11/2021 20:19

I’m gonna put this out there - champagne truffles are the marmite of the chocolate world and I would be grateful but immediately regift any I was given. A lovely box from fortnum and mason ir hotel chocolate would be perfect

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/11/2021 20:21

Fortnum’s truffles. The boxes are pretty, too.
Hotel Chocolat are a waste of time. Tast oily, artificial, just generally nasty.

Greenmarmalade · 23/11/2021 20:37

Prestat if you have loads to spend on it. Otherwise m and s do lovely chocolates and biscuits for Xmas.

TorySteller · 23/11/2021 20:37

Agree with pp that rose and violet cremes or champagne truffles aren’t the best choice if you don’t know someone’s taste.

I’d go for a nice selection box from Fortnum’s or somewhere independent! I’ve heard amazing things about Paul A Young.

HandlebarLadyTash · 23/11/2021 20:38

I like the Lindt balls anything too posh is wasted on me

earsup · 23/11/2021 20:42

anything other than the vile ferrero rocher..even poundland struggles to shift the vile things....i bet i get a box for birthday on sat even tho i make it clear i hate them to everyone..!!

DGFB · 23/11/2021 20:49

Another vote for Leonidas. They are Belgian and the best.
I don’t like Chococo at all

theremustonlybeone · 23/11/2021 20:52

You need to cater to her likes- I know if I spent a fortune on truffles for my mother or fancy fortnum and mason she wouldn’t like them or appreciate them. She would love the fruity selection from hotel chocolate though

Agree with this. Those lovely boxes from Charbonnel and walker look so pretty, but I wouldn’t eat the chocolates.
FrownedUpon · 23/11/2021 21:03

Neuhaus make lovely chocolates.

greenlynx · 23/11/2021 21:34

It depends what your budget is. I’m sure you can get amazing chocolates from Fortnum&Mason or Betty’s but if you are not near any of them and have smaller budget you still get a nice box from other places and less expensive.
M&S does Swiss chocolates box (pale yellow, slim box) They are absolutely amazing!!! It also does nice Belgian box ( the one wrapped in a paper with black ribbon) both £9.99 as far as I remember.
Seasonal H box from Hotel chocolate is very nice, as well as their truffles.
I wouldn’t buy a box of rose or violet creams or just mint. You have to be sure that the person would love it. I would go for an assortment box.

Snuzzle · 23/11/2021 22:00

Thank you so much, I’ve got lots to explore there. Ideally hoping to go with an independent shop but we don’t have anything local enough for me to visit so need to be able to buy online
I know she likes truffles but doesn’t drink so I’m probably going to avoid champagne/alcohol flavours

Not overly posh but I love Monty Bojangles choccy scoffy

Megan2018 · 23/11/2021 22:11

Leonidas are my favourite ☺️

Justonedayatatime11 · 23/11/2021 22:17

Another vote for Audreys. They supply Fortnum and Mason with their chocolate and are by far the best I've ever had.

SunshineThelma · 23/11/2021 22:26

Lauden chocolate is based in Leeds and make INCREDIBLE chocs

RaoulDufysCat · 23/11/2021 22:29

These are the best chocolates I have ever tasted (and I'm not normally much of a chocolate fan). They are amazing.
