please help me find one, the children are all 2 and we have no cooking facilites so it need to be things that we can throw together (we can melt marg but thats about it)

i have told my boss that the recipe involves mincemeat so if you can work this into it for me i would be most gratefull

LOL at your story.

Glad someone found you a recipe though (even if does sound revolting) Sorry!

ok i have been shopping and bought chritmas pudding that i will mix into melted choc (roll into balls) then cover in sprinkles, after that i will dip the top of them in melted white choc and put a small (chopped) glace cherry on top to make it look like a crimbo pudding.

what was i ever stressing about

Hello... I'm hearing you all talk about mincemeat. Don't you guys mean fruitmince?! Just curious (or maybe it's just me who's confused!). There's heaps of recipes if you type in Christmas pudding truffles into google...

Misscherrylips · 17/12/2007 00:43

Actually, I do have a recipe using fruitmince but it's at home. It also suggests using orange juice instead of brandy or rum. I'm a work at the moment so the earliest I can post it to you is tonight (btw, where is this website based in - I'm in Australia...)

Let us know how they turn out kerryk!

Misscherrylips, yes the mincemeat we are talking about is fruitmince. The website is in the UK

Misscherrylips · 17/12/2007 07:33

oh ok... thanks GreatGlowingMerrily... Here in Australia, mincemeat is actual minced meat!! I think I maybe out of time though considering the time differences!!! I'll still post the recipe anyway. Besides melting the chocolate there is no other cooking or heating required.

Ingredients
1 and 1/3 cups chopped mixed dried fruit
1/3 cup Grand Marnier, brandy or orange juice
300g Madeira cake, crumbled
1 tsp grated orange rind
1/2 cup icing sugar, sifted
1/4 cup toasted chopped blanched almonds
150g dark cooking chocolate, melted
125g White chocolate buttons, melted
2 and 1/2 tsp oil
150g White chocolate buttons extra
4 red glace cherries, chopped
12 pistachio nuts, sliced into quarters.

Method

  1. Combine dried fruit and Grand Marnier (or substitute) in bowl, cover, stand at least 1 hour.
  1. Combine in bowl, cake crumbs, orange rind, icing sugar, almonds and undrained fruit. Stir in dark cooking chocolate.
  1. Roll heaped teaspoons of mixture into balls, place on foil lined trays, refrigerate until firm.
  1. Combine white chocolate and oil. Spoon a little melted chocolate onto extra individual white chocolate buttons, place puddings on top.
  1. Spoon remaining chocolate over top of puddings and decorate with glace cherries and pistachio nuts.

I hope this recipe works - don't blame me if it doesn't as I haven't actually made it yet. I guess you could substitute fruitmince (or mincemeat! ) for the mixed dried fruit.

Good luck kerryk - you're a brave woman! Let us know how it all went... we'll be waiting here patiently for you!

they actually turned out really good, the kids loved making them and the parents were all impressed with me for taking the time organise it with them

i did the simple one i posted earlier, mixed the christmas pudding with choc rolled into a ball then covered it in cadbury choc sprinkles, after that i dipped one half in the melted white choc and stuck a tiny bit of cherry on top.

a couple of the parents said they were away to eat them with a cup of coffee and i did not have the heart to tell them how many times the kids had coughed/sneezed over them
