Christmas meal with colleagues - which menu would you prefer?

Small team going out for a meal before Christmas. Manager has jumped in and booked “somewhere new for a wee change” without asking the team and it’s causing issues 😅 Meal NOT paid for by work so it’s not a “suck it up and enjoy the free meal situation”

Which menu would you prefer?

White Menu - £29.50 for 3 courses. Doesn’t include a drink.
Blue Menu - £39.95 for 3 courses including a glass of Prosecco

White menu! There is so much choice and I don't like drinking at work events so the prosecco isnt a big deal. The veggie options look better too (I'm not veggie but often choose the veggie option if it is good).

Solasum · 17/11/2021 06:12

White. Christmas food is overrated, and better to have lots of choice

mynameiscalypso · 17/11/2021 06:14

I personally prefer the black menu but I think it's probably fairer to go for the cheaper one and allow people who want to pay for drinks to pay on top.

White

Marmite27 · 17/11/2021 06:15

The white one!

Keladrythesaviour · 17/11/2021 06:17

White - so many options people will surely find something they like!

Notimetolive · 17/11/2021 06:17

White. Much more choice and several veggie options.

CatonMat · 17/11/2021 06:19

White for me, too.
Lots of choice, and not too frilly.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 17/11/2021 06:20

Whìte.

JakeyRolling · 17/11/2021 06:22

White menu, because the only thing I'd be able to eat out of any of the courses on the blue one is the Yule Log.
Prosecco can always be bought separately but a limited menu is so restrictive.

RJnomore1 · 17/11/2021 06:22

White for a work do. (Where is it?)

Black for me and DH or friends I know well who are not fussy eaters (actually where’s it too? 😬)

SpeckledyHen · 17/11/2021 06:23

White
I can’t stand Christmas menus or roast dinners or meat .

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/11/2021 06:24

White! I assume you are in Scotland. Looks great and I would struggle to choose between several of those.

CatonMat · 17/11/2021 06:26

They both sound excellent value.
I'd like to go!

HumunaHey · 17/11/2021 06:27

White for reasons PP have said. Also, on the blue menu, the turkey is served with mash potatoes. That's just wrong - they need to be roast!

IcedCoffeeAlways · 17/11/2021 06:28

🤣🤣🤣 Thanks everyone - pretty unanimous! White is our usual location, blue is what has been booked.

White. It’s cheaper and there are more options, plus if you want a glass or two of something then you can add that on. Not fussed about Prosecco and wouldn’t pay an extra tenner for it.

IcedCoffeeAlways · 17/11/2021 06:30

@HumunaHey My argument exactly 🤣

White. Sounds like a good restaurant with interesting options and an Xmas choice for those who want it

Blue sounds like the Xmas menu for a hotel or pop up like a boat. Churned out for one off occasion for the masses and destined to be shite because of that.

If you're vegetarian you'd be paying £40 for two courses of butternut squash and root vegetables and there is nothing vegan on there at all What a stupid decision!
drpet49 · 17/11/2021 06:50

White menu- more choice

RichardMarxisinnocent · 17/11/2021 06:58

Probably White (but if the linguini is supposed to be a vegetarian option they need to be told that parmesan is not vegetarian).

ExcessiveIyDisorganised · 17/11/2021 07:07

White - more choices and I wouldn't want to pay for prosecco I wouldn't drink. I like non-Christmassy options on a meal out and to just have Christmas food on the 25th.

mynameiscalypso · 17/11/2021 07:09

Interesting to see the comments - my slight aversion to the white menu is because it's trying to do at least four different cuisines and I am always wary when I see that on a menu!

sashh · 17/11/2021 07:13

White

Better choice and no prosecco - which I can't stand.
